Great reminder!

In a collision, the force can compress the coat and create slack in the harness. It’s therefore safest to remove warm, puffy coats before buckling your child into their car seat. Here are some tips for staying warm in the car—even without that cozy coat! ❄️☃️🧤

1. Dress your child in thin, snug layers— like a sweater or fleece. Hats and gloves are okay!

2. Ensure the harness is tight enough with the “pinch test:” if you can pinch the strap, it’s too loose.

3. Once buckled, put the coat on backwards on top of the harness or secure a blanket over your child’s legs for warmth. (For infants, avoid any loose blankets or coats that could cover their face while you’re driving!)

4. Warm up the car prior to loading up to reduce the need for layers.

If you aren’t sure about the safety of your child’s car seat or cold weather clothing, we’re always here to help! Give us a call or ask us to check your seat at the next check up!

Animal walks might look like play but they’re powerful OT work 🐸🐻🐰

Through frog hops, bear walks, crab walks, and bunny hops this child is building coordination and balance motor planning core strength and endurance

They’re also getting heavy work for body awareness and regulation vestibular input for alertness and support for reflex integration

What looks like play is actually purposeful therapy and the best part is they’re learning while moving playing and having fun!

When a child pulls themselves up a rope on a steam roller slide, they are building so much more than strength.

They are strengthening their arms, hands, shoulders, and core which supports posture, handwriting, and confident movement. They are developing motor planning and coordination by using both hands together in a steady, organized rhythm. The resistance from the rope offers calming, regulating sensory input that helps many children feel grounded and focused.

And that moment at the top? A huge boost of confidence and pride.

It looks like play, but it is powerful therapy happening right before our eyes!

A sensory hammock swing is more than a cozy place to relax.

As kids curl up and gently sway they receive calming deep pressure and vestibular input that helps organize their nervous system.

This can lead to better focus, improved body awareness and a greater sense of emotional regulation throughout the day.

It is also a safe comforting space where children can unwind, build core strength and enjoy a moment of peace.

When used consistently a sensory swing becomes a favorite spot that supports both play and overall well being. 💙
