Our series continues as we explore a pillar that builds the foundation of leadership: Responsibility.

Responsibility is more than just finishing a task—it’s about owning your choices, being dependable, and having the courage to be accountable. This week, we are spotlighting Stacey Abrams, a leader who has redefined what it means to be responsible to one’s community and democracy.

As the first Black woman to be a major-party U.S. gubernatorial nominee, Stacey Abrams has dedicated her career to expanding voter access and civic participation. Her work teaches our youth that responsibility looks like:
• Taking initiative to fix systems that aren’t working for everyone.
• Encouraging others to stay engaged and use their voices.
• Remaining dependable in the fight for progress and equality.

When we practice responsibility, we aren’t just helping ourselves—we are showing up for the people around us. 🤝

As we continue our celebration of , we are focusing on our second Pillar of Character: Respect.

Respect is more than just a polite gesture—it’s the intentional act of valuing every person’s dignity, even when their perspective is different from our own. It’s about listening, empathizing, and leading with kindness.

This week, we are honored to spotlight Amanda Gorman. ✍🏾💛

As the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history, Amanda uses her voice not to divide, but to bridge gaps. She exemplifies respect by:
• Standing firm in her values of equality and environmentalism.
• Using her poetry to uplift diverse voices and stories.
• Encouraging empathy through powerful storytelling.

When we teach our youth to lead with respect, we give them the tools to build a more inclusive and peaceful world.

March is Women’s History Month — a time to slow down and truly recognize the strength, courage, and impact women have made in our communities and around the world.

This month, we’re doing something special. Each week, we’ll focus on one Pillar of Character and spotlight a woman who truly lives out that value. Through their stories, we hope to show our youth what character looks like in real life — not just as a word, but as action.

We’re excited to celebrate the women who lead with integrity, resilience, compassion, and purpose — and to inspire the next generation to do the same.

☀️ Summer Reset: Mid-Year Check-In ☀️

Halfway through the year is the perfect time to pause, reflect, and realign.
Take a moment to check in with yourself:
— How are you really feeling?
— What do you need more of?
— What’s no longer serving you?
Prioritize your well-being as we move into the second half of the year. You deserve peace, clarity, and care—every season. 🌿

Mental health isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Culture, language, and lived experience matter — especially in therapy.
July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, and we’re shining a light on how Black and Brown communities often face:
▪️ Higher stigma
▪️ Less access to care
▪️ Fewer providers who look like or understand them
At Family First Choice Inc., we believe healing should feel safe, affirming, and culturally responsive. That’s why we center the whole family with care that reflects your story — not erases it. 🖤💚
Mental health care should meet you where you are — and honor where you come from.

Therapy isn’t just for when things fall apart — it’s for building strength, clarity, and peace of mind.

This post breaks down simple steps to help men begin therapy with confidence. Because asking for help isn’t weakness — it’s wisdom.

Ready to start therapy but not sure where to begin?
Here are 5 simple steps to help you get started:

1️⃣ Acknowledge the need – Give yourself permission to seek support.
2️⃣ Know what you want help with – You don’t need to have it all figured out, just name what’s been heavy.
3️⃣ Find the right fit – Use platforms like Therapy for Black Men or Psychology Today to search for someone you connect with.
4️⃣ Book a consultation – Many therapists offer a free intro call. Ask questions and trust how you feel.
5️⃣ Show up – It might feel unfamiliar at first, but growth starts when you do.

This month and beyond, let’s normalize healing, support vulnerability, and uplift the men in our lives.
You’re not too late. You’re not alone. You’re allowed to get better.

Today, we honor freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for equity.
Juneteenth is not only a celebration of liberation — it’s a reminder that true freedom includes mental, emotional, and generational healing.
At Family First Choice, we believe that mental wellness is a form of resistance, restoration, and empowerment for Black families. 🖤💚❤️
Take up space. Rest. Heal.
Happy Juneteenth.
