Important article that sheds some light on the problems with nurse practitioner training. Did you know that nurse practitioners no longer have to have any prior experience as a nurse? I didn't until recently.

Fischer Clinic is intentionally designed to be physician-only care and we are working hard to encourage and support the next generation of physicians. We regularly have medical residents, medical students and aspiring medical students in our office to give them first hand experience and training in the work of being a doctor.

At Fischer Clinic not only are you ONLY seen by doctors, you are always scheduled with your own doctor unless they are sick or out of the office. We believe that the highest quality care comes from consistently seeing the same doctor who can get to know you well and who has spent thousands of hours training to care for you - on top of crushing it in undergrad and passing lots of exams, surviving at least 3 years of residency and passing medical boards.

Later this week our beloved NC State student intern, Ony, will have her white coat ceremony as she begins medical school. And next week, we will be joined by Varun a recent UNC grad who will spend the year with us before starting medical school.

I want to be a part of training future physicians because excellence in medical training matters.

Today is a perfect day to enjoy the Raleigh Greenway. We are proud to hang artwork in the clinic from local artists and our first picture is from Autumn Cobeland who has a wonderful Greenway series. If you know Dr. Benjamin Fischer at all, you know that he spends a lot of time on the greenway and if you are his patient he hopes that you do too!
