EMDR is more than eye movements. 👀

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps you safely process distressing memories, reduce their emotional intensity, and shift negative beliefs into healthier, more adaptive ones.

It’s like helping your brain “unstick” memories that feel frozen in time — so they no longer carry the same charge.

Backed by decades of research and commonly used for trauma, PTSD, and anxiety, EMDR isn’t smoke and mirrors. It’s science, safety, and skilled support.

What if you talked to yourself the way you talk to your closest friend? 💛

Self-compassion is a practice. When you make a mistake, pause and ask: What would I say to someone I care about right now? Then try offering those same words to yourself.

✨ Try this: Write a short note to yourself from a compassionate voice. Gentle. Understanding. Encouraging.

You deserve the same kindness you give so freely to others.

✨ January 19–23 is No Name-Calling Week — a national effort to bring awareness to how much words really matter. It all started with a young adult book called The Misfits by James Howe, where a group of middle school friends, tired of constant teasing and hurtful names, run for student council on a platform to end name-calling at their school. Their idea sparked real change and eventually inspired a nationwide week focused on kindness and respect. 💬❤️

Words can uplift or wound — and remembering that matters for everyone’s mental health. This week, let’s be intentional with the language we use, choose empathy over judgment, and remember that small acts of kindness build safer, more respectful spaces for us all. 💛

Mindfulness doesn’t have to be complicated. Journaling invites you to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself—one page at a time, as the new year begins.

And when you’re ready to take that reflection a step further, therapy can help you process what comes up—at your own pace. Request a Raleigh, Durham, or Telehealth appointment today!
