You don’t have to control every thought — just guide them back to peace and safety.

Step 1: Ground Yourself with Your Senses
Why: When anxiety takes over, your body may go into fight, flight, freeze, or fawn mode. Focusing on your senses helps bring you back to the present and out of automatic survival responses.
Example: Look around and name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 you can smell, and 1 you can taste.
Step 2: Use Creative Expression
Why: Creativity gives your emotions a safe outlet instead of bottling them up, which can help interrupt fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses.
Example: Try journaling your thoughts, doodling your mood, or dancing to your favorite song — no rules, just release. 🎨
Step 3: Schedule “Worry Time”
Why: Setting aside time to worry can help your brain feel more in control and prevent anxiety from triggering fight, flight, freeze, or fawn patterns throughout the day.
Example: Tell yourself, “I’ll think about this at 7 PM,” and when worries pop up, gently redirect your focus until your scheduled time. ⏰
Step 4: Ground Yourself Again
Why: After expressing and processing, it’s important to return to calm, so your body exits fight, flight, freeze, or fawn mode.
Example: Take a few deep breaths, stretch, or step outside and feel the air on your skin — remind yourself you’re safe right here, right now. 🌸
