Your gums don’t have to keep receding… there’s a way to restore and protect them 👏✨
This before and after is just 4 weeks after a connective tissue graft (surgery was 1/22) 🗓️ Healing is still underway, and we’ll continue to follow up as the tissue matures — but the improvement already makes a big difference 🤍
When roots are exposed, it can lead to:
⚡ Sensitivity to hot and cold
😣 Tenderness when brushing
🦷 Increased risk for root wear and decay
A connective tissue graft is the most common and predictable way to cover exposed roots and strengthen your smile long term.
Here’s what that looks like in simple terms:
➡️ A small, gentle space is created in the gum where coverage is needed
➡️ A thin layer of healthy tissue is carefully taken from just beneath the surface of the roof of the mouth
➡️ That tissue is placed into the prepared area to cover and protect the exposed root
➡️ The area is secured with sutures so it can heal and blend naturally
The graft receives nourishment from the surrounding tissue as it heals, and over the next several weeks it continues to strengthen and integrate 🌱
If your teeth look longer than they used to or you’re experiencing sensitivity, don’t ignore it. Gum recession is common — but it’s treatable.
