Scared of needles? Weaver Dentistry is proud to offer "the Wand" Single Tooth Anesthesia! The injection is comfortable, painless and leaves the patient with no soft tissue or collateral numbness. While Dr Weaver and Dr Wood use it on all patients, we have found that this is especially helpful for children since the extended benefit of of using the Wand is no biting of the lip or cheek, and those nasty post-visit injuries that leave everyone feeling down. Happy kids make for happy parents!

Curious why Dr Weaver is a DDS yet Dr Wood is a DMD? You're not the only one! The first dental school in the world opened in 1840 as the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. This is considered the birthplace of the Doctor of Dental Surgery, or DDS degree. Several dental schools followed and all granted the DDS degree.
In 1867, the Harvard Dental School was founded. Harvard authorities decided to modify the current medical degree, resulting in a Doctor of Medical Dentistry, or DMD.
Since that time, all subsequent dental schools have had the option to choose whether to grant a DMD (like Dr Wood's University of Florida) or DDS (Dr Weaver's UNC. Both degrees have the same requirements and they represent the same education.
