We were proud to represent at today’s press conference announcing this powerful executive order by the Governor. These efforts to expand the efficacy of North Carolina’s mental healthcare infrastructure is worth celebrating.

Today, Governor Stein signed an executive order to strengthen behavioral health care and public safety in North Carolina.

Executive Order 33 focuses on better coordination between behavioral health and criminal justice systems, supporting the workforce, improving crisis response, and helping people get care sooner before situations escalate.

February is Black History Month. This month, we're focusing on the incredible contributions made by Black researchers, doctors, thinkers, and advocates to the study of mental health and psychology. We're recognizing the crucial perspectives that these pioneers have provided to our understanding of the human psyche across history.

And in doing so, we hope to continue advocating for diverse perspectives and collaboration in mental health research and policy in times to come. Follow us for all of this month's historical highlights!

Extreme winter weather can leave us stuck inside our homes for days. But we can still practice self-care to maintain our physical and mental wellness while we wait for the outdoors to thaw. Here are some helpful wellness practices when you're stuck inside:
❄️ Keep up your exercise routine. Yoga, stretching, and strength training can all be done without need for power or special equipment.
❄️ Get proper rest. Make sure you are not sleeping too much or too little.
❄️ Let the light in. It may be too cold to go outside, but natural sunlight through the windows can still do wonders for improving your mood and outlook.
❄️ If you have power, stay connected to friends and family. Even if you don't, a quick check-in with loved ones can help you feel less alone.
❄️ Find a distraction project. Pull out that jigsaw puzzle you haven't completed yet, or try that new recipe. Find something you can accomplish to keep yourself occupied.

What other tips do you have for focusing on wellness during a winter storm?
