Day 9 of our "12 Days of Affiliates" continues with a look at NAMI Western Carolina!

After Hurricane Helene devastated the mountain regions of North Carolina last year, NAMI Western Carolina was forced to rebuild and respond to the overwhelming tragedy faced by their community. And respond they did, with a refreshed dedication to providing support to their neighbors. NAMI Western Carolina holds NAMI Signature support groups, like Connection Recovery and Family Support Groups, but also has groups specifically for people living with anxiety, youth and young adults, and parents/caregivers of teens with mental health conditions.

NAMI Western Carolina also offers their offices for community events, like a weekly drop-in art class and other community inclusion projects. They invite community members to just show up for coffee and conversation. All of these recent efforts show a real passion for the real people in their community, which is one of the reasons they were awarded the Affiliate of the Year Award at the NAMI NC Annual Conference this year.

If you live in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, Mitchell, or Yancey Counties and want to get involved with NAMI Western Carolina, visit their website: https://namiwnc.org/
