This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

Eating disorders don’t always look the way people expect—and they don’t require a certain body size, background, or diagnosis to be real.

This week is about awareness, early support, and reducing stigma. Many individuals struggle quietly with food, body image, and control around eating, often believing they need to be “sick enough” before asking for help. That belief can delay care and deepen isolation.

At Summerfield Custom Wellness, we believe:
• Support should be accessible and compassionate
• Healing is not linear—and that’s okay
• You don’t have to have everything figured out to deserve care

Citrus reaches its peak (in terms of availability and variety) during the winter months. February is American Heart Month, making it a fabulous time to celebrate the benefits of citrus for heart health. Citrus fruits contain flavonoids, chemicals that occur naturally in plants, which help to reduce cholesterol and inflammation in the body. Citrus is also rich in potassium, an important mineral for regulating blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart problems and stroke. Antioxidants, like vitamin C in citrus, help to reduce the buildup of plaque in the arteries that can lead to heart attacks and stroke.

Try to eat your citrus in its closest to whole form, such as orange wedges on a salad, a grapefruit half alongside breakfast, or lime juice in a dressing. Pick up a new-to-you variety the next time you shop and let us know what you think!
