Feeling off when things move too fast?👀

In this clip, Dr. Blake demonstrates a pursuit exercise with an OPK background, which can help the brain and eyes coordinate when tracking moving objects in visually busy environments.

Remember: the exercises our doctors prescribe are highly specific to each patient’s exam and findings! What works for one person may not work for you, and self-prescribing eye exercises could worsen symptoms.

When your job description is just “yes”

Ever get dizzy in stores like TJ Maxx or feel overwhelmed by all the visual stimulation around you?

In this clip, Dr. Blake explains a type of eye exercise sometimes used in functional neurology called OPK with fixation. These types of exercises can help train how the brain processes visual motion and stabilize how the eyes respond in busy, high-traffic environments.

That said, the eye exercises we prescribe are extremely specific to each patient’s exam and findings. What works for one person does not mean it will work for you, and self-prescribing eye exercises can actually make symptoms worse if they are not appropriate for your system.

Ocular migraines aren’t just “eye issues”
They can show up as:

• Visual auras (zig-zags, flashing lights, blind spots)
• Temporary vision loss
• Headache... or no headache at all

These symptoms often point to how your brain is processing visual input not just your eyes.
If this sounds familiar, it’s worth looking deeper than just vision👁️

The autonomic nervous system plays a big role in how blood vessels behave. That’s one reason dysautonomia and migraine often overlap.

More neural connectivity is often a sign of strong brain integrity. But after an injury, those complex networks can actually increase awareness of dysfunction, which may mean more noticeable symptoms.

Here’s the paradox: the more someone struggles after a brain injury, the more intact and well-connected their brain may have been beforehand.

Suffering is not weakness. Sometimes it reflects preserved brain integrity.

Your brain can compensate for
dysfunction for a long time by recruiting other healthy areas. But once those reserves are exhausted, symptoms can appear suddenly. For many people, the symptoms feel “out of nowhere, even though the process may have started long before.
