Planning my research conference trips for 2026 and this one will be a highlight for sure! Can't wait to go back to Phx in November!

Gratitude.
It comes up in our home and work life nearly every single day. There’s tremendous research showing how gratitude benefits our mental health — and in these trying times, it’s a practice we invoke often: together, individually, and in our groups.

From the root of the word gratitude, we also get grace — which is a gift freely given. There’s nothing we have to do to experience gratitude; it’s simply available when we pause and notice.

When fear arises, turn the attention to the present moment and recognize the simple things — a good meal, a phone call with a friend, warm clothes wrapped around your body — this gently helps to pull us out of a fear cycle that seems to permeate our culture.

I truly believe it will take our collective focus on transmuting fear into right action, love, kindness, and hope. We can do this together.

Interesting article with research references about those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and use of GLP-1 drugs.

Why am I posting this? because many women with Lipedema also have EDS or MCAS or both... I have Lipedema but not EDS nor MCAS.

Liposuction for lipedema is now officially approved for health insurance provision in Germany 🙌💉
🟣 The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) confirmed today that liposuction is a proven and beneficial treatment for lipedema in the legs and arms — regardless of disease stage.
📋 Eligibility is likely to require:
✅ Official diagnosis from 2 healthcare professionals
✅ 6 months of conservative treatment
✅ Stable body weight
💡 This decision is based on strong scientific evidence — especially the pivotal LIPLEG study — and reflects a major shift toward recognizing patient needs and lived experiences.
📆 Outpatient billing codes are expected by 1 January 2026, making treatment more accessible in clinical practice.

Lipedema World Alliance congratulates all involved in the decisions and contributions, including LWA Board Members Professors Manuel Cornely and Mojtaba Ghods whose surgical centres provided the majority of LIPLEG patients, and Dr Gabriele Faerber co-ordinator and lead author of the German Lipedema Guidelines under the guidance of the German Society of Phlebology and Lymphology. LWA was also pleased to see the Committee considering the patient perspective through the evidence given by Susanne Helmbrecht of the LWA Founder Member patient organisation Lymphselbsthilfe e.V.
