Protein isn’t just for bodybuilders — it’s the foundation for strength, recovery, metabolism, and staying lean as we age. Most people think they eat enough, but fall short by a lot. Hitting your protein goal doesn’t have to be complicated: build your meals around whole‑food sources, then use whey, casein, or plant‑based powders to fill the gaps.

Medicine doesn’t stand still—and neither can we.
Technology, techniques, and implants evolve, and it’s our responsibility to evolve with them.

I was fortunate to spend the day with Dr Badia at the Badia Hand to Shoulder Center learning the CMC implant and refining other surgical approaches. Couldn’t have asked for a more talented, generous, and genuinely good guy to learn from.

Grateful for the opportunity, fired up to keep growing, and can’t wait to implant my first one.

Huge shoutout to Jason, Hannah, and Joe for organizing and making the day seamless.

Full circle moments.
I had the chance to spend time with the first‑year students at Campbell’s osteopathic medical school last week, talking shoulder, elbow, and hand trauma — but more importantly, talking about the ‘why’ behind what we do. And my favorite sTARR points 😂

I’m grateful for the mentors who shaped my path, and it’s an honor to pour back into the next generation. Medicine moves forward because people invest in people.

Thanks to the students for the energy, curiosity, and great questions. The future of our field is bright.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Rings are meaningful — but they can become dangerous fast.

If you injure your hand or wrist, swelling can set in within minutes. A ring that feels loose right now can tighten like a tourniquet and cut off blood flow. I see this often with wrist fractures, and the results can be serious.

Watch to see real examples of what happens when a ring stays on too long.

If you hurt your hand, remove your rings immediately.
If it won’t come off, you still have options:
• A jeweler or medical provider can safely cut the ring
• An elastic band can help compress the finger and slide the ring off

Protect the finger first. The ring can be replaced — the blood flow can’t.

Taylor drops a new album today 🎶 …so naturally I’m responding to questions with Swift lyrics. Sometimes the only right answer is, ‘look what you made me do.’

✨ Wellness Wednesday: Let’s Talk Creatine ✨

Creatine isn’t just for bodybuilders — it’s one of the most researched supplements in sports and health science. 💪

✅ Helps improve strength and power
✅ Supports lean muscle growth
✅ Boosts recovery after tough workouts
✅ Even has brain health benefits 🧠

And the best part? Creatine is safe, effective, and backed by decades of research.

👉 I personally trust , a brand known for its purity and quality. They just dropped two new flavored creatine options (on top of their classic unflavored powder) — making it easier than ever to mix into water, smoothies, or your post-workout shake.

If you’ve been on the fence about creatine, this might be the perfect time to give it a try.

🏈 Wednesday Injury Report: 3 Common Football Injuries You Should Know 🏈

Football season is here, and while the game is exciting, injuries happen fast. Here are 3 we see often:

👉 Finger Dislocations – A jammed finger that won’t straighten? Could be a dislocation. Quick reduction is key, but untreated injuries can lead to stiffness and long-term issues.

👉 Scaphoid Fractures – Wrist pain after a fall on an outstretched hand? Don’t ignore it. These fractures can be subtle on X-ray but carry a high risk of poor healing if missed.

👉 Jersey Finger – Can’t bend the tip of your finger after grabbing a jersey? That’s likely a tendon injury requiring prompt surgical evaluation.

⚠️ If you’ve sustained one of these injuries (or think you have), don’t wait it out—get evaluated early for the best outcome.

📲 DM me or call our office if you need to be seen. Let’s keep you healthy and back on the field.

Fracture Friday 🦴
This case started with a scaphoid nonunion that was initially treated elsewhere with a distal pole scaphoid excision. One common complication after this procedure is a dorsal intercalated segment instability (DISI) deformity, which unfortunately developed here.

Despite multiple rounds of conservative care, the patient’s pain persisted. He came to me for a second opinion, and after reviewing his case, we elected to proceed with a scaphoidectomy and four-corner fusion.

The result? He recovered remarkably well — and was back on duty as a police officer just six weeks after surgery. 🚓💪

Wellness Wednesday 💉
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy isn’t just for pros—but it is used by some of the greatest.
🏆 Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Rafael Nadal, Stephen Curry, and Hines Ward all used PRP to recover faster and avoid surgery.

By using your body’s own healing cells, PRP can treat joint pain, tendon injuries, and chronic inflammation—naturally and effectively.
Whether you’re an athlete or just trying to stay active, PRP might be your game-changer.

Feeling low energy, brain fog, or stress? It might be your B vitamins.
Methylated B vitamins are easier for your body to absorb—especially important if you have the MTHFR gene mutation. They support mood, energy, metabolism, and nerve health.

💊 I recommend high-quality, methylated formulas—check out my favorites.

Fracture Friday
🦴Today’s case: an intra-articular dorsally-angulated distal radius fracture.

📉 Mechanism of injury: fall from height off a ladder — a classic high-energy mechanism that often results in comminution and joint involvement.

🛠️ Surgical plan: We discussed both volar and dorsal approaches given the dorsal angulation and articular involvement. Fortunately, we were able to achieve an excellent reduction and fixation through a volar approach.

🔩 Fixation: Treated with an arthrex volar locking plate, providing stable fixation across the joint surface.

✅ Outcome: Stable fixation, good alignment, and early motion protocol initiated.
