Reflecting on this past weekend spent with family and friends sharing lots of laughs, smiles, hugs and stories - just warms my heart. We weren’t all able to spend it in person but the heart has no boundaries and I’m thankful that my oldest has a family away from home that treats her like their own. As we left our annual trip to Bakersfield my daughter made a comment on how much she loves the people we spend our time with and how she can’t explain it but it just feels good to be with them … I told her that’s what unconditional love feels like - no expectations, no boundaries, it’s blind to color, finances, status - it’s about just being present with the people who are in your life and not taking the time for granted - we are lucky to have that in our life.

LOW BACK PAIN?!?! Have you had pain in the low back that comes and goes for years and now it doesn’t seem to be going away - sometimes as life goes on our habits and movement patterns change so we will experience pain “for no reason” . I tell my patients all the time - “there is always a reason” we just have to investigate and look outside the box sometimes. Here is a recent conversation I had with someone regarding their orthopedic telling them they have a condition called Spondylolisthesis.
“This is a very common condition that comes from a couple different reasons.

It is a condition where one spinal bone slides on top of the other. Which can put pressure on disc / spinal column / exiting nerve .

Before it causes nerve issues the muscles will tighten up to protect the area - causing tightness.

The bone typically slides either due to arthritis forming on the joint pushing it forward or sometimes an old or new stress fracture in the area could cause it.

Your doctor will have you do X-rays bending forward and leaning back to see if it is stable.

The MRI will help determine how much is affecting the disc / spinal column / nerve.

Treatment is usually physical therapy , sometimes bracing , mainly conservative treatment for pain management and keeping the inflammation down.

It’s a very treatable and common condition to treat. “ So the take away is if you are seeing a chiropractor or physical therapist and not seeing results for a non accident related issue it is recommended to get some imaging done to see if there is something anatomical going on. This is not something the rehab specialist should be trying to adjust at the site. (this is for educational purposes only- not intended to diagnose so if you are having issues talk to your doctor)
