We’re excited to share that Gifford is bringing advanced orthopedic care closer to home. As Vermont’s first Critical Access Hospital, and first RAKA (Robotically-Assisted Knee Arthroplasty) program, to offer the TMINI® Miniature Robotic System for total knee replacement, we’re proud to expand access to innovative care for our community.

THINK Surgical’s TMINI® system uses state-of-the-art technology to assist surgeons during procedures with a handheld, wireless robotic tool that they guide every step of the way, supporting accuracy, consistency, and surgical precision. These advancements may help improve recovery, reduce pain after surgery, and support overall quality of care.

At Gifford, it’s all part of our commitment to providing expert care, close to home, so you can get back to what you love.

Call (802) 728-2430 to make your appointment today.

Join us at our Annual Meeting on April 30 from 5:30–7:30 PM at the Chandler Center for the Arts to learn more about the TMINI® system! RSVP by April 17 at the link in our comments.

As March gives way to April, the shifting moods of early spring can leave us feeling a little… out of sync. But what if this in-between season is actually an invitation to notice something deeper, something hopeful?

In our latest blog post, Gifford Volunteer Chaplain Kathy Rohloff reflects on the beauty hidden in unpredictability, and how even the most chaotic seasons can prepare us for growth.

🌱 From muddy paths to budding bulbs, her words remind us: the best may be yet to come.

Read Kathy’s full blog reflection at the link in our comments.

Kathy and all of our volunteer chaplains offer a compassionate, nonsectarian presence for anyone who needs someone to listen. You don’t have to navigate life’s seasons alone. To connect, call Rev. Tim Eberhardt at 802-728-2107.

Behind the scenes at Gifford! 📸

Take a peek at yesterday’s photo shoot with our talented photographer, Ben DeFlorio, capturing Dr. Orem in action with an exciting new technology at Gifford.

We’re proud to introduce the THINK Surgical TMINI Miniature Robotic System—a handheld, wireless robotic device used for robotically-assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This advanced system allows for less bone removal, improved implant alignment, reduced pain, and faster recovery for our patients.

As pioneers in bringing innovative care to our community, we are honored to be the first in Vermont to offer the TMINI system, and the first critical access hospital in the country to do so!

At Gifford, a simple question sparked a big transformation: “If food is medicine, how are we feeding our family?”

Our team has been reimagining what hospital food can be, bringing in culinary talent, focusing on fresh, local ingredients, and creating meals that are both nourishing and delicious. From made-to-order favorites to thoughtfully designed patient menus, the Gifford kitchen is raising the bar, one plate at a time.

Big thanks to White River Valley Herald for this great feature on Gifford’s nutrition and food service team. You can read more about how this evolution is changing the experience for patients, staff, and our community in The Herald here: ourherald.com/articles/food-is-medicine/

🥦Come see and taste the difference for yourself. Our café is open to everyone weekdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. with delicious lunches being served 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We believe care goes beyond medicine, and our volunteer chaplaincy program is a powerful example of that compassion in action.

In FY25, our dedicated chaplain volunteers contributed over 1,000 hours of service, including 1,848 visits with patients and 249 visits with staff. These volunteers are present every single day of the year, offering comfort, connection, and support through our non-denominational chaplaincy program.

From visiting hospital patients and residents in our nursing home to being available in the emergency department at any hour of the night, our chaplains provide a steady and reassuring presence when it’s needed most.

“We have a ministry of presence,” shares Rev. Tim Eberhardt, who supervises the program and leads a free weekly grief support group at Gifford. “We’re there for the patient.”

We are deeply grateful for the compassion, dedication, and humanity our chaplain volunteers bring to our community each day. 💚

March is National Social Work Month, and we’re proud to recognize and celebrate the incredible social workers here at Gifford!

Recently, the Vermont State Legislature and Governor Phil Scott proclaimed March as Social Work Month, honoring the vital role social workers play across Vermont. This recognition reflects what we see every day at Gifford: compassion, strength, and dedication in action.

Our social workers support patients and families through life’s most challenging moments. They are advocates, listeners, and problem-solvers who make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many in our community.

To our Gifford social workers: thank you for your unwavering commitment and for the care and compassion you bring to your work each day.
