🌟We are excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Philip D. Levesque Memorial Community Award, honoring the legacy of our president and CEO from 1973-1994. The grant is given annually to a local organization involved in the arts, health, community development, education, or the environment. This year, we have two $2,000 grants available.

How to apply:
Submit your application in writing by Friday, March 13, 2026. Your application should include:
- A detailed one-page description of your community project
- Estimated budget and project timeline
- Expected results and benefits
- A copy of your organization’s 501(c)(3) certificate

🌟 Meet Team Gifford!

This week, we’re excited to introduce you to Amy Chiriatti, MPT, one of our dedicated physical therapists here at Gifford!

Amy has been a physical therapist for about 25 years and has been part of the our team for more than 16 of those years. In addition to her weekday work at Sharon Health Center where she is based, Amy also covers weekends at the hospital helping ensure patients receive the care they need.

What Amy loves most about Gifford is the small-town feel. She enjoys seeing her patients out in the community and values knowing the providers she works alongside, sharing a commitment to quality service and patient care.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find Amy spending time in her garden, out on her bike, or cross-country skiing. Her active lifestyle reflects what she wants for her clients.

We’re grateful for Amy’s years of experience, dedication, and the care she brings to our community every day. 💚

🎉 February is School-Based Health Care Awareness Month!

This month, we celebrate the everyday superheroes who make school-based health care possible – from the dedicated teams at school-based health centers (SBHCs) to school nurses, partners, policymakers, and philanthropists. Your hard work and dedication to supporting students is truly invaluable.

In honor of these amazing champions, we’re proud to share a special video created by Kathleen Bryant, MPH, MSN, FNP-BC, Nurse Practitioner at Gifford Pediatrics and Randolph Schools, in collaboration with partners at Vermont Child Health Improvement Program (VCHIP) and UVM. This video features the work we do here at Gifford and in the Randolph schools and raises awareness about the importance of school-based health centers. 📽️

In a time of uncertainty, limited resources, and shifting needs, these dedicated professionals continue to show up for our students every day. Let’s show our appreciation for all those who make a difference in the lives of our youth.

We are so grateful to have Tri-Valley Transit as a vital community partner! Their public bus routes make it easier for our patients, residents, and families to access care and services at our Randolph-based locations.

📢 Talking to Children About Body Safety: What Every Parent Needs to Know

As difficult as it is to face, the statistics on child sexual abuse are deeply concerning. Current estimates suggest that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 20 boys experience abuse, but we can take steps to change that. One of the most powerful tools we have is education.

Gifford pediatrician Dr. Courtney Riley, MD, FAAP, shares practical steps to help you talk to your children about body safety, build their confidence, and empower them to protect themselves.

From using the correct names for body parts to teaching them how to set boundaries, these age-appropriate conversations can make a huge difference.

At Gifford, we’re here to support you. If you have concerns about child sexual abuse, our team of professionals, including trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), are available to help at 802-728-2420.

We’re thrilled to welcome Mark Andrews to the Gifford Board of Directors!

Mark is the Co-Head of Investment Strategy at Hanson & Doremus Investment Management in Burlington, and he also serves on the Board of the Vermont Council on World Affairs. He has held roles with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Ukraine, and Medical Care Development International in Equatorial Guinea.

He brings extensive financial and analytical expertise to the table, and is dedicated to supporting Gifford’s long-term sustainability and mission of keeping healthcare accessible and local for all. Wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Gifford! While you’re celebrating with those you love, remember to take a moment to show some love to your own heart. February is not only about spreading love, it’s also American Heart Month and a healthy heart is the best gift you can give yourself and those around you.

We love our accounting team (pictured here) for many reasons, including their amazing show of support for heart health. Last week, they all wore red for National Wear Red Day to raise awareness for women’s cardiovascular health.

❄️ We had the best time skating yesterday with an amazing group of people!

Huge thanks to the Randolph Ice Rink for hosting Gifford’s Skate with a Doc event and to all the healthcare providers and community members who came out to make this such a special event!

It was a good reminder that no matter how chilly it gets, spending time outdoors is key for our mental and physical well-being. Here's to making the most of the last few months of winter! ⛸️

💚Meet Team Gifford!

Say hi to Lisa Delegato, an extraordinary Nurse Care Manager on Gifford’s Community Health Team. This year marks 35 years at Gifford for Lisa!

When asked what she loves about working at Gifford, Lisa shared:

“I love the patients, my Gifford co-workers, and the community partners I work with. I really enjoy what I do for work, it fills my cup.”

As part of the Community Health Team, Lisa helps connect patients with needed resources such as food, fuel, housing assistance, and transportation. The team also works with patients to discuss their health and wellness goals and offers support through action planning. They even provide help with completing advance directives and offer health coaching.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with friends and family. She has a big, close-knit family that includes her husband, two children, three grandchildren, four sisters, and both of her parents. She’s also part of a book club and loves art projects.
