Helping Youth Transition to Adulthood
🎓 Turning 18 shouldn’t mean losing support.

Every year, dozens of young people in South Dakota “age out” of the DSS guardianship program. Many still need guidance with health, housing, education, and life decisions — but the state’s support ends when they turn 18.

Dakota Guardianship steps in to provide continued guardianship and advocacy, helping these young adults build stable, independent lives.

Many South Dakota veterans face daily challenges managing health, finances, and life decisions — and some have no one to turn to. Without guardianship, their safety and dignity are at risk.

At Dakota Guardianship, we believe that those who served us deserve care, dignity, and someone steadfast in their corner. Through our Veterans Guardianship Initiative, we provide trusted guardianship and advocacy services to veterans who can no longer manage on their own — ensuring their voices are heard, their benefits are protected, and their rights are respected.
