Hi everyone. A little update on the online practices I was planning last month. I apologize for not following up, but I became pretty ill shortly after our first attempt. I was even tested for COVID-19 during that process. Fortunately, that was negative. I have since recovered completely and still plan to try some on-line work in the near future.

I do think there is an important lesson that I learned from this event. In the past, I would have just soldiered through my illness and tried to do the training because I felt an obligation to everyone who had expressed interest. What I did instead, was focused on self-care. I was not well and needed to take care of myself first.

The lesson I learned was that it’s ok to say no. Its ok to understand that we only have so much to give. So, please accept my apologies and I’ll post again when I’m ready to give it another shot. In the meantime, take care of yourselves. Check in and see if you too could use a little break!

Hi everyone. We had some technical difficulties with zoom. All my fault. Somehow I had the meeting open in two locations, which wouldn't allow people to join. We were able to get three of us logged in, but decided to try again next week. I'll do some additional testing to make sure it works first. Sorry! Hope everyone is safe and well! Colin

Hi everyone. Below is the meeting invitation for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. I think it works best if you download Zoom and establish a free account. Once you do that, there are some familiarization videos that will help you understand the program and the basics of the meeting process. Otherwise, I believe you can simply click the link and it will allow you to join the meeting. Not 100% sure on that though. If the link isn’t active, you may have to copy and paste it into your browser. I expect we will experience a few glitches as we proceed. I have it set-up such that you should be able to log into the meeting a few minutes prior to the start time. I would recommend that, since we only have 40 minutes. If you log-in later, that’s fine but we won’t start over as people come and go. This first attempt will be a very basic introduction with a short guided session. I will also cover some of the most frequently asked questions about mindfulness and meditation practices. Hopefully, this is a success and we can build a learning and sharing community as we move forward. PM me if you have any specific questions or concerns. Thanks, Colin

Greetings everyone! A little update and some news. Some of you are aware that I went back to school to get a master’s degree in counseling. Because this process has been so time-consuming, the workshops have been on hold for a couple of years. With the recent widespread use of Zoom, I am considering conducting a free one-hour mindfulness and meditation practice once a week utilizing that platform. I’m making this post to see if there is any interest in making this happen. Right now, I’m envisioning a short lesson with an opportunity for participants to submit questions beforehand. This would be followed by a short 10 to 15-minute guided meditation. We would close with some reflections. The whole session would be no more than an hour. Please like or comment if you’re interested, and I will work to make this happen. I hope everyone is safe and well in these troubling times! Colin

This is a one-minute stress buster to help manage uncertainty in times of Covid-19, using the breath as an anchor, calming the nervous system and bringing peace to the body and mind. Through deep breathing, we can cut through a buildup of agitation and replace it with calm.

A loss in my life in this last week has deeply touched the most vulnerable places in my heart and brought home my awareness of impermanence. How can we heal in times of loss and change? How can we find acceptance, grace and compassion in the face of impermanence? How do we stay vital, brave, …
