Not every mission involves a runway.

Last week in Hugo, OK, our Director of Medical Operations, Ken, traded flight plans for handshakes—building connections that show what our missions are all about.

Ken was able to showcase what Medical Air Rescue Company does on a daily basis and how youth members can get into the business.

‼️We’ve got some exciting news to share‼️

After months of evaluation, planning, and behind-the-scenes coordination, Medical Air Rescue Company is expanding our capabilities with the addition of rotor-wing aircraft. 🚁

This marks a major step forward in our mission to provide timely, high-quality critical care across the regions we serve.

Over the past year, we’ve seen an increasing need for faster access to patients in areas where runway availability, distance, or terrain can delay fixed-wing response times. By integrating helicopters into our operations, we’ll be able to:

• Reach patients directly at the scene
• Reduce transport times in critical situations
• Expand access in rural and hard-to-reach areas
• Strengthen partnerships with local EMS and first responders

Our initial rotor-wing deployment will focus on key service areas across South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, with plans to grow as demand continues to increase.

The answer to yesterday's trivia is: 22 active King Air pilots!

All five bases have four full-time pilots.
We are currently short one pilot in Hugo, Oklahoma (Apply online at https://www.medicalairrescue.com/ 😉)
We have one part-time pilot, our Chief Pilot, and our Chief Operating Officer, who take turns filling in when needed!

Small world in the sky ✈️

Rosebud and Valentine crews crossed paths at FSD, proving once again how tight-knit this team really is. A few hours later, the mission kept rolling—this time with the Rosebud crew carpooling back to SUO with the Rapid City crew.

Different bases, one mission, and always a good time when the crews link up.

Last week, our Rapid City base completed a patient transport to Ogden, Utah. Every mission takes coordination, teamwork, and dedication from everyone involved—from the pilots in the cockpit to the medical crew caring for the patient in the cabin, and the Administration and Communications Center staff who organize it all. We’re proud of the professionals who make these flights happen and grateful for the trust placed in us to provide critical care when it matters most.

Every airport should have one of these. No subscription required, no signal needed, and it works 24/7. The Grider Field ‘Pilot Weather Forecasting Stone’ might be the most dependable weather briefing system we’ve seen yet. 🪨✈️
