Meet Lisa Kuzman, MSW, CSW-PIP!

Liza completed both her undergraduate degree in psychology and masters degree in social work from the University of Iowa. She is licensed in both Iowa and South Dakota. She has 20 years of experience providing counseling in nursing homes, assisted living, home health, hospice, inpatient psychiatry, and outpatient case management.

Her areas of expertise are: grief, loss, trauma, spirituality, existential crisis, self-care, self-love, career change, retirement, life adjustment, divorce, depression, anxiety, professional advancement, entrepreneurship and leadership. She has extensive experience working with death, dying, grieving, caregivers, veterans and health care providers.

She accepts the following insurance: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid, Medica, United Healthcare, Sanford, Avera and Health Partners and private pay. She will soon be able to accept TRICARE.

In March I left my job as a social worker at Monument Health Home + Hospice program.

After taking a couple months to decide what I wanted my next chapter to look like I decided to go all in on opening up my own private practice.

It’s a big deal and a big commitment and as soon as I made the decision things started falling in place effortlessly.

Turns out the thing I thought I’d never want to do became the perfect next step for me and the timing couldn’t be more aligned.

Today I am celebrating the freedom and satisfaction of being self employed doing the most meaningful work of my career as a grief counselor and therapist.

I’m also happy dancing because the list of insurance I can accept continues to grow! I am now able to accept Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS, Sanford, Avera, and United Health….and expect approval from Health Partners and Tricare very soon!

If you are in need of grief counseling and want to use insurance I am able to accept BCBS, Sanford and Avera health plans! As I secure contracts with other insurance companies I will make sure to let you know.

Gahhhhh! I’m SO excited!!!

I’m doing something I thought I’d NEVER do!!

Drumroll please 🥁It’s official I’ve started a grief counseling private practice!!

I’m in the process of getting credentialed to accept insurance which is a whole journey and I’m learning a lot!!

As of right now I can accept Medicare, SD Medicaid and BCBS since they will allow me to retroactively bill for insurance. As I secure contracts with other insurance companies I’ll keep you posted!

Oh, and I’m planning an open house at my office building sometime this summer so stay posted!
