Does your child freeze up during playdates? It might not be dislike—it might be overwhelm. 🌿

“Go play” can feel open-ended and confusing for many kids. What looks like avoidance is often just needing more structure.

Here’s what helps:
• Start with a turn-based game
• Stay nearby and model simple back-and-forth
• Focus on one cue at a time

Try guiding the moment: “Your turn to add a piece” or “Ask your friend for a turn.” Step back once the rhythm builds. ✨

Your child doesn’t need less support—they need the right kind. DM us to schedule a free discovery visit 💛

Not all communication is spoken.

Many children with cerebral palsy have ideas, thoughts, and things they want to share—but speaking can be difficult because CP can affect the muscles used for speech and breath coordination.

That’s where AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) can help.

AAC tools—like communication boards, picture systems, or speech-generating devices—give children a way to express themselves, make choices, ask questions, and connect with others.

Using AAC does not replace speech. It actually supports language development and communication growth!

Every child deserves a way to be heard.

During Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, we’re highlighting how different therapies support children with CP. 💚

Many everyday activities require a combination of postural stability, hand strength, coordination, and sensory feedback from the body.

For children with cerebral palsy, tasks like:
• using utensils
• holding a crayon
• getting dressed
• playing with toys
can require much more effort.

That’s where occupational therapy can help.

OT focuses on helping children develop the skills needed for daily activities, play, and independence.

Sometimes progress comes from building strength and coordination.
Other times, small adaptations can make a big difference.

Adaptive tools may include:
• specialized utensils
• built-up pencil grips
• adapted scissors
• positioning supports
• tools that make dressing easier

These supports help children participate more successfully while continuing to build their skills.

💚 Every child deserves tools that help them engage with their world.

💪✨ Building Strength the Right Way!

This superstar has been working hard on weight-bearing through the arms while maintaining proper alignment—focusing on strength and stability without relying on hyperextension. By learning how to support their body with strong, active muscles, they’re building the foundation for better coordination, control, and safe movement.

Every small adjustment leads to big progress, and we love celebrating these important steps along the way! 🌟

⭐️ Superstar of the Week! 🏃‍♂️💨

We are so proud of the progress they’re making! Through fun activities and lots of determination, they’ve been practicing coordination, balance, and speed to become an even stronger runner.

It’s amazing to see their confidence and excitement grow with every session.
Keep up the great work, we can’t wait to see how fast you go next! 🌟

Most people think of cerebral palsy as a movement disorder.

But movement and sensation are deeply connected.

Children with CP may have differences in how their brain processes information from the body, including:

• body awareness (proprioception)
• balance (vestibular system)
• touch processing

These sensory systems help the brain understand where the body is and how it is moving.

When that information is harder to interpret, coordinating movement becomes much more challenging.

That’s why therapy often focuses on supporting both movement and sensory processing—helping children build the foundation for play, participation, and everyday activities.

🎨🍓 Food Explorers in Action! 🍌🥕

Our Food Explorers got creative this week by turning everyday foods into amazing works of art! Using fruits, veggies, and other colorful ingredients, the kids designed their own edible masterpieces while exploring new textures, shapes, and flavors.

Activities like this help children build confidence, creativity, and curiosity around food in a fun and pressure-free way. When kids feel safe to explore, they’re more willing to try something new!👀✨

This week we’re celebrating our strong and confident friend who has been proudly showing off her muscles! 💪✨

She has been working so hard in her sessions — building strength, body awareness, and so much confidence along the way. We love how she lights up when she sees what her body can do!

Keep flexing, keep growing, and keep shining — we are SO proud of you! 🌈👏

Your child’s stories are full of life and wonder. But if other kids sometimes pull back, it may not be what they’re saying — it’s the rhythm of conversation.

When pragmatic language is still developing, children can miss subtle back-and-forth cues like pauses, glances, and listening moments.

Want to help build stronger social bridges?
✨ Try quick check-ins: “Have you seen that too?” or “What do you think?”
✨ Practice pausing and watching for a nod or glance.
✨ Use connection phrases: “Does that make sense?” or “Want to hear more?”
It’s not about speaking less — it’s about creating space for connection. 🌿✨

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. DM us to schedule a free discovery visit so your child can grow communication that feels good on both sides.
