Healthy Eating Habits
Diet plays a central role in managing diabetes. Focus on foods that help maintain steady blood sugar levels:
• Fruits and vegetables: Provide fiber and essential vitamins.
• Whole grains: Opt for oats, brown rice, and whole wheat products.
• Lean proteins: Include chicken, fish, beans, and tofu.
• Healthy fats: Avocados, nuts, and olive oil can support heart health.
Avoid sugary drinks, excessive processed foods, and refined carbohydrates that can spike blood sugar. Consider consulting a registered dietitian for a personalized meal plan.

Did you know? Regular cardiology check-ups offer significant benefits by enabling the early detection and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, which are the leading cause of death globally.
These check-ups help manage risk factors, create personalized health plans, and can ultimately improve treatment outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and provide peace of mind.

Through our partnership with Valley View Heart and Vascular Center, patients in our community have local access to advanced cardiac imaging without the need to travel far or face long wait times. Led by renowned cardiologist Dr. Frank Laws, the Valley View team brings decades of experience and nationally respected heart care to our rural region. While a wide range of cardiology services is available through their clinic, echocardiograms can now be scheduled directly through MHCC.

It’s one more way we’re expanding local access to expert care — and investing
in a healthier future for Carbon County.
