Last week, we had the honor of hosting a very special celebration for patient, Josh Goddard, and his family. Josh’s children, Clark and Jocelynne got to celebrate upcoming birthdays – complete with festive decorations, gifts, great food and sweet treats. Josh and his wife, Carly, celebrated a special anniversary. Josh gave his wife a beautiful bracelet to commemorate the occasion. Liza’s Place was filled with so much love and laughter as the Goddard family celebrated these joyful moments with their loved ones.

The celebration was complete with a visit from Star Wars Stormtroopers! Thank you to the Stormtroopers Josh Maruca, Ty Jodon and Mathew Schraeder for donating their time and talents. Not only did they surprise Clark, who loves Star Wars, but they visited every patient at Liza’s Place. The visit brought so much joy to everyone!

This special celebration was made possible by the Valley Hospice Whispered Wishes Program, a program that grants end-of-life wishes to our patients. A big thank you to the Disciples Women's Ministries of the Moundsville First Christian Church for donating these wonderful blankets for our patients. Valley Hospice was a proud sponsor of the Fighting Cancer 5K, held Saturday in Toronto! It was a great event to support a great cause! All proceeds from this year's event benefit families in the Ohio Valley undergoing cancer treatment.

Our contribution was made possible through our “Jeans Day Fund.” Valley Hospice employees are permitted to wear jeans one day per week but must pay $1 each time they do so. That money is then put in a “Jeans Day Fund” and earmarked for community support. Our employees are incredibly generous and committed to giving back to the communities we serve and live in.

Congratulations to Valley Hospice Social Worker, Bob Kolb, for winning 1st place in his age group!

Our 1950's Sock Hop Soda Shop recently traveled to Lancia Healthcare Belmont Manor and The Orchards Communities- the Orchards of East Liverpool and Stone Pear Pavilion. Thanks to everyone who took the time to talk with us and get a custom made soda! We had the best time!

The last month has been challenging, to say the least! But, we made it - TOGETHER! Our Central Administrative Office, in Rayland, has been completely cleaned out and demolition is complete. All of our staff members have been relocated to alternate office locations. A BIG thank you to our facilities team - Don and Chris - and IT team - Zach and Brooks - for making this transition go as smoothly as possible! Stay tuned for updates as we navigate the rebuilding process.
