To Our Valued Patients:
Our priority at Mayflower Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is to keep your overall health and well being our top priority. In the wake of the recent changes in response to COVID-19 we want you to know that we are doing our best to keep your patient experience a clean, safe and comfortable one. For the moment we will be available for necessary patient care. We will be doing our best to accommodate you through this time while keeping our staff, patients and overall community well.
Therefore, we will be implementing some changes to our normal patient encounters and office protocols.
1. We will do our best to take advantage of technology to keep our patients from needing to be seen in office at this time. We are asking you to call us from your car when you arrive and we will check you in and will call or text you when your room is ready to minimize the time spent in the waiting room. The same applies to your rides. We will contact them when you are ready to be picked up from the appointment. Sedation patient rides are expected to remain in the parking lot throughout the procedure.
We will be reaching out to other consultations if we have the necessary radiographic imaging or can secure it from your referring dentist. We can discuss questions you may have, discuss the risks, benefits and alternatives of your diagnosis and treatment. We will confirm all findings with a clinical exam prior to initiation of the procedure.
2. We recommend any patient experiencing COVID-19 symptoms including dry cough, shortness of breath or temperature greater than 101.5 degrees fahrenheit to call the office and kindly reschedule:
• If you have had a fever or experienced flu-like or upper respiratory symptoms in the last 14 days or been in contact with anyone suspected of COVID-19 exposure, we kindly request that you call our office to reschedule your appointment.
3.To minimize the number of people in our office, we respectfully request that you do not bring siblings, friends, or relatives to your appointment unless they are your own ride.
• We take a temperature as part of your routine vital signs. We will ask anyone with a temperature over 101.1 to reschedule without other oral and maxillofacial surgical sources of infection.
4. We will continue to maintain a clean and safe environment and comply with OSHA and CDC infection control guidelines. We have standard protocols in place to disinfect all surfaces and patient contact areas with hospital level disinfectants on a daily basis. We sterilize or safely dispose of all instruments and products used during patient care. We utilize personal protective equipment (e.g. masks, gloves) to keep you and our team members safe
• We have temporarily removed items that pose a risk of cross-contamination (e.g. magazines, children’s toys, etc.) from our waiting room
• The waiting room will be thoroughly disinfected prior to opening, after each patient leaves and at close of business by a member of the Mayflower OMS team.
5. We support a healthy work environment for our employees and patients
• Staff members have been directed to stay home if they are running a fever, exhibiting symptoms, or have an ill family member. Any staff member with recent travel domestic or foreign was asked to remain out of the office for the next 14 days.
We will continue to monitor this situation closely by staying in contact with the CDC, health organizations, and other medical experts.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Together, we can help flattened the curve.
Thank you,
Dr. Vega and Staff at Mayflower OMS
