At the end of today’s balanced body practice Chanelle offered a japa mala meditation 📿

Using mala or prayer beads are a great way to meditate especially for busy minds. There are a total of 108 beads, plus the tassel = 109, which is a sacred Hindu number.

Every time I silently said the mantra “I am calm. I am strong.” I moved to the next bead.

Not only was I deeply imbedding this belief into my mind, I was also eliciting the relaxation response which turns on our bodies healing mechanisms on, our rest and digest.

I have a few fun facts for you 😁

#1. If you live in the North East, you cannot absorb vitamin D from the sun between the months of November to May because we’re too far from the equator. So you still need to continue wearing sunscreen throughout the winter to protect your skin from UV radiation and environmental pollution protection.

2. There is no such thing as getting a base tan a tanning bed before going on vacation You’re just causing skin damage. So just practice safe son on vacation and get vitamin D.

3. Even if you’re indoors near a window and on a computer all day, you’re not only getting UV damage but you’re also getting blue light exposure which causes cellular damage.

Our face is always exposed to the elements and that’s why sun protection on our face ears and neck is so important. If our belly was always exposed, we’d be talking about protecting our bellies.

The right skincare ingredients, for the right skin used correctly can work like a dream. Having a a basic 3-5 step regimen for most people is all that's really needed. But if we're still having issues with our skin being red, scaly, clogged, uneven toned, it's an opportunity for us to zoom back and look at the full picture 👉🏼 lifestyle!

Stress, nutrition, stress, movement, hydration, safety, recovery..... all play a part in our skin health. Skincare alone wont do the work. That's why I take an integrative approach to my practice.

When we work together we'll create a custom lifestyle regimen that includes all of the above, one step, one breath at a time.

Stress causes muscle contraction, especially around the neck and shoulders which causes headaches, TMJ and pulls our skin tissue down. Lots of manual lymphatic drainage facial massage throughout the facial and facial cupping melted down so much tension, increased circulation and boy was she glowing 💫

Your practice is to have nonjudgemental awareness and release the thought.

Then repeat counting your breath, a word, phrase, prayer or movement 🔂

We are all touched by the beauty & heartaches of life, and while we can't stop stress from showing up, we are committed to teaching you how to bring the practices of mindfulness, self-love, and healthy self talk to support you in creating inner peace, clarity of mind and flexibility to ride the unpredictable ebbs & flows of life with more ease.
