Kundalini yoga is many things. However it is truly a self-empowerment system for releasing emotional stress and physical stress / postural patterns in the body. The breathwork techniques work with the nervous system to energize, balance, and regulate.
Modern life is an assault on the nervous system. Algorithms directing our lives designed to pull us one direction or the other. Practices that direct the mind, ultimately quiet the mind. Meditation, mantra like prayer entrain the mind in ways we now understand through the field of neuroscience.
And, we always have our breath. It's so simple that we can practice just paying attention to our breath for a couple minutes a day and there might be profound effects. We might not have to move the body at all. But in our modern culture we need to move more.
Kundalini yoga increases vitality. When I share these practices it brings it back to the forefront of my mind and I always feel I benefit as much as my students!
