Readlyn EMS is here to help. While the power is being cut for a great and needed saftey update on June 4th. If you or a family member is oxygen dependent we will have the station open and our generator will be running to keep you breathing.
Bring your concentrator, any medications needed, a sack lunch, and some snacks and we can provide the space and electricity to keep you safe.
Spouse/caregivers are also welcome.

Just so we have an idea of how many to plan for, please text or call (319) 526-1859.

Readlyn EMS and Readlyn Fire Department were part of a collaboration with surrounding services for a MOCK accident at Wapsie High school today.
We were happy to help and thankful that in this case everyone walked away unharmed. However, we have been to scenes that are like this in our response area.

Now could you imagine, you are a person who comes up on a scene like this or you are in an accident like this and call 911 but there is not a crew able to come? Unfortunately, not every county in Iowa has ems as an essential service. Bremer county is one of them! We are working to try and change this but currently as it sits, if you were to call 911 this may not guarantee that someone is coming to help. We are lucky with our dedicated crew in Readlyn that we will do what we can to drop everything to come help in the time of need but the reality is that the numbers are dropping. So, if you're interest in showing up in time of need please reach out. We need more people to give their time, knowlege, and care.

This is great! Having care guidelines at our finger tips and updated regularly is very helpful! Thank you Walmart!

Yesterday Bremer County EMS providers received a generous gift of $1,000 from the Waverly Walmart to be used, in part, to fund our EMS Guidelines (protocols) app.

Our EMS Guidelines app is a collaborative effort of EMS providers and our medical directors to provide EMS providers (most are volunteers) with the latest approved and standardized patient care guidelines. (Each EMS provider and agency must have medical director approved guidelines.)

Not only do Bremer County EMS agencies utilize this app, but we have made it available to 39 other EMS agencies across 7 counties. And hospitals in our area have been provided the app. This EMS Guidelines app project has been a large effort to assure all in NE Iowa receive the same pre-hospital care - from the first EMS providers on the scene to the transfer of care at the hospitals.

Our EMS Collaborative is a group of like-minded people - from EMS providers to ER doctors to pharmacists volunteering their time to create an EMS system that provides quality care while doing what we can to sustain EMS in Iowa. Our collaborative has no funding source other than generous gifts and donations. If you wish to support this effort, please send a private message and we will provide information and answer questions.

Thank you Walmart and thank you!

Note: Not all EMS provider agencies in Bremer County have pages. There was no intent to omit any Bremer County EMS provider agencies.

After around 25 years on the service Sherry decided to "turn in her scissors" and retire from Readlyn EMS. She will still be in the community she loves so when you see her make sure to tell her thanks and congrats!
Tonight at our monthly meeting we celebrated Sherry and great stories and laughs were shared.
Thank you Sherry for all of your dedicated years and knowledge.
