Today I was extra blessed when I walked out of one appointment to get ready for the next patient when this little ball of light literally ran to greet me with a giant hug. He didn't just hug me and let go... he hugged me and hugged me and hugged me some more. He probably hugged me for 10 minutes as I sat on the waiting room floor in this beautiful hug as I was treating him and while feeling his little body melting. Peace, calming, and regulation.

I am so lucky!! My job is for sure the best! Who can get hugs and smiles and work at the same time?! ❤️🙏

Perfectly said. I love Sunshine Kate and our holistic community in Monmouth County. We share smiles, hugs, and patients. Thank God we have found one another. Ten years ago, I opened the doors to my practice in Red Bank at 211 Broad St. I also hosted the Big Latch On in Red Bank that day as well. What a beautiful way to enter into a new community!! Hello, Monmouth County!!

After practicing in various settings since I graduated in 2004, I had moved "down the shore" after I had found the most perfect space. It was under construction when I looked at it in January 2015. It was a church turned into office suites. I stepped foot inside and it was as if the skies parted and the angels were singing. I knew it was where I needed to open the doors to my first physical office.

I have met so many amazing patients, families, and professionals over the last decade. I have had the opportunities to walk with patients and families through the challenges and joys that life has provided. I have personally been both blessed and supported while navigating my life as well.

Life has been interesting for me over the last 10 years, with the addition of and loss of loved ones, along side of parenting, treating patients, and running a business. I have experienced tremendous personal and professional growth during this time. My practice has allowed me to share my love and caring for my patients, to share a hug and an understanding, and to allow the use of my God given gifts. I have and continue to be blessed to have patients, families, and colleagues that trust my hands, heart, knowledge, and experience with their care. Thank you so much. The allowing of someone to physically work on your body, the letting go, the feeling of safety, the intimate sharing of your life...it is so special and I deeply value that and would never take any of this for granted.

Although the walls of my office are not me, not my practice, not the treatment I provide, they have held a sacred space with a beautiful energy that you can feel upon entering. I am grateful to have been divinely guided to this space, my home in Red Bank, and I look forward to many more years!

Often times, people ask me if I treat babies only. The answer is, no.

I am blessed to treat both adults and pediatrics. Working over the last 20 years, I could never decide which group of patients I wanted to treat. I like adults for some reasons and babies and kids for other reasons. The truth is, I just want to help people improve their quality of life and function. I have worked in many different settings including 2 outpatient private practices, hospital outpatient, neurological based outpatient, acute care/in patient hospital, public schools, private schools for children with multiple disabilities and/or autistic spectrum diagnoses, Early Intervention, Visiting Nurses Association home care, and my private practice. All of these have afforded me the opportunity to work with both adults and pediatrics.

Circling back to the question if I just treat pediatrics...my practice is pediatric heavy. I love babies and children so much. Sometimes the ratio is 95% pediatrics and 5% adults. For this week, the pendulum has really swung a great deal. This week, my practice is 58% adults of which 57% of that number are parents and some are even grandparents. The reason I am sharing this is because I am so happy that adults are starting to realize the value in this work and making the time to take care of themselves. As we shift as adults and parents, we change our families. We change those around us. With the work for adults, it can range from regulating the Central Nervous System, decreasing stress, helping with pain, helping with neurological conditions and significant medical diagnoses, supporting the body post surgery, and so many other things. Trauma work is a big part of my practice and healing is patient driven using somatoemotional release techniques. Our bodies are meant to be in homeostasis; sometimes, we just need some hands on to support it.

Today was a beautiful day. I am so grateful that I was able to provide pro bono treatment sessions to 10 patients.

A couple people asked me today why do I do it? Why provide free treatment? Since I have had my office, people have had things to say about my pro bono days.... don't offer things for free, people won't value your services....you are devaluing yourself....you're crazy, no one works for free...why would you waste your time when you don't need business...what's the point...why do you do it????

These are all great points. I do it because I want to. God gave me these gifts and sometimes it is truly just fun for me to give freely. It's almost like a thank you for these gifts for me and a gratitude to those who seek my care.

If you have ever stepped foot in my office, you know the feeling, the look, the energy....you know what it feels like to be heard, to be held, to be supported, and to know what it is like to have someone genuinely care. To the very core of my being, I do. I give because I want to, because this is all I got, and guess what? It truly is life altering.

Also, in this early Thanksgiving post, thank you to my parents for their support in my education, my professors, my instructors, Dr. John Upledger, my classmates, my friends, my colleagues, those who treat me and keep me sane, to my children who understand that sometimes other people will come before them, and thank you the most to my patients. It is through you, my patients, that I have learned to be a better therapist and I pray I have helped you and your family.

Tonight I will sleep knowing that:
-truly in sharing that we heal
-in hands on work we can find homeostasis and move out of fight or flight
-the nervous system is the key
-with love, safety, and respect all things are possible
