Last week our residents and staff had a Seuss-tacular time celebrating Dr. Seuss Week! 🎉📚 Each day brought a new theme, lots of laughter, and plenty of colorful fun around the facility.

🧡 Monday – “Seuss Color Explosion”
We kicked off the week by wearing our brightest neon colors to fill the halls with fun and energy!

💙 Tuesday – “Thing 1 & Thing 2”
Staff paired up to twin for the day. There were so many “Things” running around, it was hard to keep count!

🧦 Wednesday – “Fox in Socks”
Crazy socks were everywhere! The brighter, sillier, and more mismatched the better.

🌙 Thursday – “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”
Pajama day made the whole building extra cozy while we imagined all the wonderful places we could go.

💚 Friday – “Grinch / Who-ville Day”
We wrapped up the week wearing green or red and white, bringing a little bit of Whoville spirit to our facility.

From silly socks to neon colors, it was a week full of smiles, creativity, and fun memories with our amazing residents. Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make Dr. Seuss Week so special! ❤️

What a beautiful Valentine’s celebration!

Residents gathered for sweet treats at our chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, shared heartfelt advice on our Advice Board, and we had the honor of crowning our 2026 Valentine King & Queen — Richard Armstrong and his beautiful wife, Karen!

This week was a wonderful reminder of the love, friendship, and strong sense of community that make our home so special. Thank you to our amazing staff, and families for helping create such memorable moments for our residents!

🌟 Huge Shout Out to Our Amazing ADON, Samantha Golden! 🌟

Sam has officially been with our facility for one year and one day, and what an incredible year it has been! From the moment she joined the Heritage Family, Sam has shown up every single day with a smile on her face and a heart full of dedication.

She loves wholeheartedly, gives her absolute all, and continuously strives to improve patient care. Sam is always looking ahead—diving into new regulations, finding ways for our team to grow, building trust in meaningful ways, and never settling for “good enough.” She pushes for excellence while lifting everyone around her.

🌟Meet Our Life Enrichment Team!
On the left is Brianna Hofstetter, Life Enrichment Director, and on the right is Kathy Hersh, Life Enrichment Assistant. Together, they lead our Life Enrichment program with creativity, compassion, and a deep commitment to resident well-being.

❓What is Life Enrichment in a Skilled Nursing Home?
Life enrichment focuses on enhancing quality of life by supporting residents’ emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual needs. While clinical care supports health and safety, life enrichment supports living—helping residents find purpose, joy, connection, and meaning each day.

🎯What Do They Do for Our Residents?
Brianna and Kathy plan and lead a wide variety of engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and personal histories. This includes social events, games, music, crafts, exercise programs, one-on-one visits, cognitive stimulation, and community involvement. They also celebrate birthdays, holidays, and special milestones, and adapt activities so every resident can participate and feel included.

💝At the heart of life enrichment is building relationships—getting to know each resident as an individual and creating moments that spark smiles, memories, and connection. We are grateful for Brianna and Kathy’s dedication to making our community feel like home. 💙

At Heritage of Webster County, our skilled therapy programs are designed to help residents regain independence, strength, and confidence in everyday life. Our interdisciplinary therapy team works closely with each resident to create personalized plans that support recovery, safety, and long-term wellness.

💪Physical Therapy (PT) – 5 Days a Week
Focus: Strength, balance, mobility, and endurance
Physical Therapy helps residents improve their ability to move safely and independently. Our physical therapists work on:
• Walking and transferring (bed to chair, chair to standing)
• Improving balance to reduce fall risk
• Strengthening muscles after illness, surgery, or injury
• Increasing endurance for daily activities

🦵Occupational Therapy (OT) – 5 Days a Week
Focus: Daily living skills and functional independence
Occupational Therapy helps residents relearn or adapt everyday tasks, including:
• Dressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting
• Meal preparation and self-feeding
• Upper body strength and coordination
• Use of adaptive equipment for safety and ease

Focus: Communication, cognition, and swallowing
Speech Therapy supports residents with:
• Speech and language difficulties

We’re proud to introduce the dedicated professionals who help our residents build strength, maintain life skills, and feel supported every day at HOWC.
🦵 Marissa Petsch, PT (Top Left) – Originally from Nelson, NE, Marissa earned her PT degree from UNMC and has served the Red Cloud community since 2018. She enjoys golfing, time with friends, and life as a busy wife and mom.
🖐️ Megan Clausen, COTA (Top Right) – From Downs, KS, Megan joined WCCH’s Therapy Department in June 2024. She brings a strong work ethic shaped by farm life and enjoys time with her husband and children.
🦵 Sara Macklin, PT (Bottom Left) – From Blue Hill, NE, Sara recently joined our team and enjoys riding horses with her daughters while helping residents regain strength and mobility.
🗣️ Amy Nash, SLP (Bottom Right) – From Deshler, NE, Amy joined us in 2024. Her passion and enthusiasm bring energy and dedication to our residents each day.
💪 Addie Minnick, RNA (Middle) – Addie started with us as a CNA in 2023 and advanced into restorative therapy. She enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, family, friends, and baking.

🖐️ Kaylee Tonnieges, OT – With us since 2024, Kaylee is engaged to be married this April. She’s known for her constant smile, calm demeanor, and determination to help everyone she works with succeed.
🖐️ Erin Tharnish, OTR/L – Also joining our team in 2024, Erin balances chasing after her son, Callum, with her passion for helping others grow stronger and more independent.
🦵 Cortney Koepke, PTA – Cortney stayed with us through our transition to HOWC in 2024. She’s always willing to step in when needed, thrives on doing better, and motivates residents and teammates alike with her positive attitude.
