Our thoughts are with the people of Hawaii and all those affected by the devasting fires in Maui. The Aegon Transamerica Foundation is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross, in addition to a dollar-for-dollar employee match to aid disaster relief efforts. Our World Financial Group insurance agent network has also established a $250,000 match through the WFG Foundation. These combined contributions will directly support the Red Cross in helping to shelter, feed, and provide care to families as they work to recover and rebuild.

Yes.

A meta-analysis that evaluated the relationship between dietary patterns and the risk of depression found high intakes of certain foods like fruit, vegetables, whole grains, fish and olive oil as well as low intakes of animal foods was associated with a decreased risk of depression.

High consumption of red and/or processed meat, refined grains, sweets, high-fat dairy products, butter, potatoes and high-fat gravy *along with* low intakes of fruits and vegetables was associated with an increased risk of depression.

It’s worth considering an increase in foods like fruit, vegetables, whole grains, fish, and olive oil in the diet as one possible way to help prevent or mitigate symptoms of depression.
