Nickie Lynn Carlson, age 65, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 8, 2025. Nickie was born August 29, 1960, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Garry and Deloris (Peterson) Taylor. She was raised near Grant, Iowa, and graduated from Villisca High School. Nickie lived all her life in Southwest Iowa. She worked for Casey’s General Store in Oakland and Griswold for many years and the last 10 years made her home in Red Oak.

Preceding her in death were her father and her brother, Matthew Taylor. Survivors include her mother: Deloris Adams of Griswold, IA; sister: Deb Foote and husband Doug of Red Oak, IA; nephews and nieces: Ryan Pelzer and wife Jamie of Malvern, IA; Jared Pelzer and wife Jess of Griswold, IA; Hayden Pelzer and wife April of Griswold, IA; Cade Pelzer and wife Riley of Red Oak, IA; Jodie Hogue and husband Devin of Atlantic, IA; Nate Elwood and wife Kristi of Stanton, IA; and Macy Strickland and husband Austin of Clarinda, IA; many great nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Harold Clifford Rossander, age 90, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Accura Healthcare of Stanton, Iowa. Harold was born March 12, 1935, the son of Harry and Dorothy (Nelson) Rossander. He attended country school and graduated from Stanton Public School. When he was nineteen, his father had a stroke, and Harold had to do the farming and helped raise his younger brothers. His father passed away the next year. He was a member of the Iowa Army National Guard in Company L, 410th Infantry Regiment, 103rd Infantry Division serving for 8 years. Throughout the years, Harold worked as a DHIA Supervisor, did carpentry, farmed, worked at the hatchery, and did plumbing work before starting a 29-year career with the Stanton Coop and worked through the transition to United Farmers’ Cooperative where he retired as Manager. He was also with Pioneer Mutual Insurance for 9 years. He was a pillar of the Stanton Community and served on many boards including Stanton Area Industrial Foundation of which he was a founding member, Stanton Chamber of Commerce, Stanton Booster Club, the church board, Land O’Lakes District Board President, Land O’Lakes Advisory Board, and Agri Grain Marketing. He was a longtime member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton and currently a member of the First Covenant Church in Red Oak. Harold was very proud of his 4-H heritage and was a leader of the Stanton Scalpers for 11 years, started the Young Farmers Association, and was the youth director at the Coop. Harold was united in marriage to LaDonna Jones Honeyman on June 7, 1973, and gained a daughter, Dixie age 16, and son, Marvin age 13. Harold loved them, loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved his nieces and nephews dearly.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother: Darwin “Rosy” Rossander. Survivors include his wife LaDonna Rossander of Stanton, IA; children: Dixie Singbeil and husband Byron of Washington, IA and Marvin Honeyman and wife Cindy of Essex, IA; 7 grandchildren: Gary Honeyman of Villisca, IA; Scott Honeyman and wife Torrie of Clarinda, IA; Audra Honeyman of Council Bluffs, IA; Drew Singbeil and wife Lindsay of Riverside, IA; Jordan Singbeil of Washington, IA; Mallory Co and husband Jeff of Concord, CA; and Colton Singbeil of Riverside, IA; 16 great grandchildren: Ava, Gavin, Taya, Bennett, Aniston, Tyce, and Brayden Honeyman; Maiya, Brenner, Beckham, Madison, and Abe Singbeil; Wren, Olive, and Ellis Co; and Sophia Singbeil; brothers: Robert “Ross” Rossander and wife Sandy of Stanton, IA and Richard Rossander and wife Becky of Eastland, TX; brother-in-law: Larry Jones and wife Katie of Snowmass, CO; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life funeral will be held at 10 AM Saturday, December 13, 2025, at First Covenant Church in Red Oak. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery in rural Stanton, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, December 12, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church or the Twin Lakes Bible Camp.

Robert Joe Coddington, age 56, of Corning, Iowa, formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa. Robert was born April 18, 1969, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Robert Joe Coddington, Sr. and Bonnie (Anderson) Coddington. He was raised in Stanton, Iowa, where he attended school. Robert worked many years at the Rainbow Café and most recently Primrose in Corning, Iowa. His hobbies included fishing, bowling, the special Olympics, and going to the casino.

Preceding him in death were his father: Robert Coddington, Sr. and stepfather: Marvin Hayes. Survivors include his mother: Bonnie Hayes of Onawa, IA; brother: Terry Coddington and wife Stephanie of Onawa, IA; sister: Tammy Ronfeldt and husband Steven of Red Oak, IA; nieces and nephews: Hannah Sederburg, Daize Pontow, Ben Coddington, Cody Coddington, Dana Coddington, Zackery Coddington, Steven Ronfeldt, Tyler Coddington, Teanna Coddington, and Zoey Ronfeldt; and other relatives and many friends.

Dale Leon Sawtelle, age 61, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dale was born April 24, 1964, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Reggie and Beverly (Stender) Sawtelle. He was raised in Flint, Michigan, moving to Colorado and later Southwest, Iowa, in the mid 1990’s. Over the years, he worked for Hi Crest Automotive in Creston, Red Oak Chrysler in Red Oak, and most recently Powell Farms. Dale was united in marriage to Heidi Jarrett in 2019. He was a mechanic, by trade, who could fix most things. He always said he was a jack of all trades and master of none. His hobbies included working in the yard, fishing, golfing, bowling, and playing pool.

Preceding him in death was his father. Survivors include his wife: Heidi Jarrett-Sawtelle of Red Oak; children: Jeremy Sawtelle; Jalen Sawtelle of Leon, IA; Josh Sawtelle and wife Rachel of Cedar Rapids, IA; Zoe Greever of Shenandoah, IA; Jalee Sawtelle of Stanton, IA; Hunter Jarrett of Red Oak; Darian Sawtelle of Henderson, IA; and Jackson Sawtelle of Shenandoah, IA; one granddaughter; mother: Beverly Stender of Fostoria, MI; sisters: Kellie Nettleton of Flint, MI and Roberta Winn-Powers of Millington, MI; brother: Malcolm Maitland of Fostoria, MI; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Don and Cathy Jarrett of Red Oak; and many other relatives and friends.

Julie Ann McIntosh, age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Julie was born February 5, 1955, in Ontario, Oregon, the daughter of Arnold and Pearl (Miller) Mason. She was raised in Payette, Idaho, and graduated from Payette High School. Julie was united in marriage to Joseph Simonsen in October of 1975 and two sons were born to this union: Adam and Heath. She furthered her education at Boise State University in the hospitality program and started working for a hotel. Julie joined the Unites States Navy in 1978 and served until 1982. During this time, Julie was united in marriage to Otto “Mac” McIntosh on February 14, 1980, at Pearl Harbor Hawaii and one son was born to this union: Lance. They lived in many different places during Mac’s time in the service. When he retired, they moved to Iowa and lived in the same home near Red Oak for many years. Julie and Mac operated the restaurant at Viking Lake from 2004 until 2010. Julie then worked for the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in the kitchen and later became the Dietary Manager. She received her dietary management certification from South Dakota State University. Julie retired in 2017. While living in California, she served on the Santee School PTA, was the ombudsman for USS Bagley in San Diego, and was ombudsman for COM DES Group 3. While in Iowa, she was a member of the Dietary Managers Association and she and Mac served as campground hosts at Viking Lake. She loved the outdoors, gardening, mowing and doing crafts.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers: Arnold and Jeff Mason; and sister: Sandra Clayton. Survivors include her husband: Otto “Mac” McIntosh of Red Oak; sons: Adam Simonsen of Kansas City, MO; Heath Simonsen and wife Stephanie of Payette, ID; and Lance McIntosh and wife Sabrina of Liberty, MO; grandchildren: Koryl Green and husband Tristan of Payette, ID; Mercedes Phillips and husband Wyatt of Payette, ID; Jade Simonsen of Payette, ID; and Dorian McIntosh of Liberty, MO; great grandchildren: Kayden, Lyam, and Daphne Green and Ryver and Brinzley Malabo; sisters-in-law: Betty Pogge of Carson, IA and Rebecca Hall and husband Michael of Macedonia, IA; brother-in-law: Roger McIntosh and wife Karen of Horton, KS; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 10 AM until Noon on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Marvin Adolphson, age 84, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Re...

Marvin Adolphson, age 84, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Red Oak, after a battle with Myelodyplastic Sydrome (MDS) . Marvin was born May 1, 1941, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Fred and Christine (Vosberg) Adolphson. Marvin joined his brother Donald who was born August 15, 1938.

The family lived on a farm 6 miles west of Armour, South Dakota. The farm, at that time, had no electricity or running water and the farm work was done with horses.

Marvin attended a one room school for grades 1-5, then attended grade 6-12 at Armour Public School graduating in 1959. He worked at a local gas station for one year then enrolled in Southern State College in Springfield, South Dakota. Marvin graduated in1964 with a BS in chemistry. He was then accepted to Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, to pursue an advanced degree in chemistry. Marvin graduated in 1969 with a PhD in chemistry.

On July 8, 1969, Marvin was united in marriage to Helen Wookey at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

In the fall of 1969, Marvin attained an associate professorship position at Wisconsin State University in Platteville, Wisconsin, where he taught until 1971.

In the summer of 1971, Marvin and Helen moved to Helen’s family farm near Red Oak, Iowa. Helen’s parents encouraged Marvin and Helen to take over the family farm. During this time Marvin also taught several chemistry and math courses for a local community college. He later took a full-time job at Lloyd, Inc., a pharmaceutical company, located in Shenandoah, Iowa. Marvin retired from Lloyd, Inc in 2011, but continued to farm until 2018.

Marvin's hobbies and joys included working in the wood shop, being outdoors, history, learning new things, family get togethers, especially bonfires, and trips to South Dakota. And Marvin always loved conversation, as he never knew a stranger anywhere.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Donald Adolphson; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Adrian and Faye Wookey; and grandson: Daniel Williams. Survivors include his wife: Helen Adolphson of Emerson, Iowa; children: Bradley Adolphson, Diane Adolphson, and Marla Williams and husband Chad; grandchildren: Alex Adolphson, Alice Williams, and Faith Williams; and other relatives and many friends.

A private family graveside service will be held later at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Armour, South Dakota. Memorials may be directed to the Hawthorne United Methodist Church, Nishna Productions, or the Red Oak Music Boosters.

Gary Stephens, age 87, of Henderson, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025, at his home. Gary was born February 3, 1938, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Herbert and Genesee (Viner) Stephens. He lived his entire life on the family farm, graduating from Henderson High School in 1956. He attended US Trade School in Kansas City returning to farm with his dad. Gary married his high school sweetheart, Ladonna Ross on November 20, 1960, in Red Oak, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Lynnette, Lori, and Mark. Along with farming, Gary was a wood worker, making furniture, toys, and remodeling the family home. He was quite handy and could fix anything. Gary enjoyed traveling to see family in California and grandchildren who lived close by. He was a longtime member of the Henderson Christian Church where he was a Deacon and Trustee. Gary also enjoyed square dancing with the Henderson Grand Squares Club for many years. Playing cards with friends and family at get togethers was a favorite activity.

Preceding him in death were his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Sander and Mildred Ross; and brothers-in-law: Jack Ross and Clark Ross. Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years: Ladonna Stephens of Henderson; daughters: Lynnette Stephens of Henderson, Iowa, and Lori Unis and husband Jerry of Santa Ana, CA; son: Mark Stephens and wife Nicole of Henderson; grandchildren: Garrison Unis of Colorado; Max Unis of California; and Aaron, Evan, and Audrey Stephens all of Henderson; brother-in-law: Norman Ross of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law Barbara Stille of Lincoln, NE; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life funeral will be held 10 AM Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Henderson Christian Church with burial in the Emerson Cemetery at Emerson, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, November 21, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Craig Allen Euken, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at his home. Craig was born May 5, 1941, in Dexter, Iowa, the son of Herman and Frances (Sien) Euken. He was raised in the Anita area before moving to Clarinda. He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1960 and was united in marriage to Judy Foster on November 12, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri. Craig attended technical training in Kansas City for auto body repair. Through the years they lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Osceola, Iowa, and Shenandoah, Iowa before moving to Red Oak, Iowa, in 1967. Craig worked for Union Carbide Eveready for many years and Grays Body Shop. He retired from Eveready in 1993. Craig was a past member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, trips to Viking Lake to fish, family trips, taking the kids to the pool in the “Swimming Pool” car, and the backyard pool. The things he enjoyed most were his wife, family and friends, whom he loved dearly, and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Preceding him in death were his parents; Judy’s parents: Boyd and Eva Foster; wife: Judy Euken; brother: Dennis Euken; sisters-in-law: Molly Euken and Joan Warner; brothers-in-law: Mike Kling and Charles Warner; and niece: Andi Euken. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday November 16, 2025, at LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery near Wiota, Iowa. Roberta Lee Burgus, age 91, of Yuma AZ, passed away on October 31, 2025, in her home at Desert Rose Retirement Community in Yuma.

Roberta was born on May 7, 1934, in Red Oak, IA, the daughter of Gertrude and Robert D. Adams.

Roberta grew up in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in 1951. After high school, she attended the NW Institute of Medical Technology, graduating in 1953. She received degrees in Clinical Laboratory Techniques and X-ray and Electrocardiogram Techniques.

Roberta was united in marriage to Wayne Eldon Burgus on November 3, 1956, at the First Christian Church in Osceola, IA. Because of Wayne’s 20-year naval career, Wayne and Roberta lived in many different places such as Hawaii and on Midway Island with most of their lives being stationed in California.
Roberta worked as a lab and x-ray technician in the different cities where Wayne was stationed. Eventually they retired, moved to Medford, OR, and then to Yuma, AZ.

Wayne and Roberta loved traveling in their RV to different places in the U.S. with their dogs. They eventually bought a mobile home in a 55+ mobile home park in Yuma, AZ. Roberta made a lot of friends and enjoyed delivering mail to her neighbors using her golf cart. She was a member of the Faith Horizon Baptist Church in Yuma. She often provided doughnuts and other goodies after Sunday services. She looked forward to the bi-monthly bible studies that she hosted at her home. She would often fix a meal and have lots of goodies to serve. Roberta also volunteered at VBS at her church. Roberta had a very generous nature and donated to many charities over the years.

Roberta was a member of the American Medical Technologies Society and the Red Hat Ladies Club.

Preceding Roberta in death were her parents, husband Wayne Burgus, sister and brother-in-law Patricia and George Maher, sister-in-law Jacky Adams, brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dale and Billie Burgus, and niece Debby Conroy.

Roberta leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Floyd “Lynn” Adams of Red Oak, IA, nephews: Steve (Lynn) Adams, Jack (Frédérique) Adams, Mike (Dee) Maher, and David (Karen) Burgus; nieces: Shelley Adams, Kim Robinson, Kristi Patrick, Delaine (Richard) Gabel, Dayna Dove and many great nieces and nephews along with cherished friends Cathy McPhink and Maxine Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 15, 2025, at LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
