Obituary For Thomas Edward Fitzgerald
November 30, 2025, Buck Fitzgerald got the call to leave this world...too early and with loved ones in disbelief yet knowing if he had to go, this is how he would have written the script:
Thomas Edward Fitzgerald
October 9, 1960 - November 30, 2025
Thomas “Buck” Edward Fitzgerald was born October 9, 1960 in Yreka, California to John and Marilyn Fitzgerald. The family lived on their ranch along the Bogus Creek in the Ager-Beswick area. Buck would be the 6th of 7 kids, growing up far from town, chasing salmon in the creek during the fall and running the hills with his brothers and sisters gathering cattle.
After graduating from high school, Buck left the ranch and headed south to Hanford, California, where he worked for Pete Belezzuoli and Hoke Evetts at the Overland Stockyards. The stories and experiences from those days were never far from his mind during storytime. His journey later took him to the Alpine Packing House, where he met a lifelong friend, Johnny Van D**e.
Eventually, Buck settled in Redding, California, and began his life's work in the construction industry, specializing in concrete. He learned the trade from some of the best who have long since left this world, always maintaining the skills and integrity they taught him. After gaining the necessary time and experience, he obtained his own contractor's license in 1988.
That same year, at the age of 27, he married Cyndi Watson and settled in Anderson, California. He not only started his construction company, Fitzgerald Construction, but also planted the roots of their family. That year, they welcomed Jordan Thomas, followed by Jenna Lynne in 1991 and John Jaxon in 1995.
Buck did whatever it took to keep up with his kids, hauling them for years to junior and high school rodeos, baseball games, football games, and wrestling matches. 4H, horses, and sports formed the palette against which Buck and Cyndi raised their children.
Buck and Cyndi enjoyed their life with family and friends and friends that became family. Whether traveling south of the border, celebrating birthdays, weddings or milestones or earning their snowbird wings to enjoy Arizona roping. Life got sweeter each year.
Buck left this world too soon. Too soon by any measure but most certainly by those who loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marilyn Fitzgerald, sister MaryAnn Robinson. He leaves behind his wife, Cyndi of 37 years, son Jordan Fitzgerald , Jenna Orloff (Danny), Jaxon (Jenna Lea) and his crowning jewels, his 3 granddaughters Emersyn Rae (4), Henley Harriet (2) and Stella Louise (2), brothers and sister Dennis (Lisa), John (Maryann),
Patrick (Tammy), Kathy and Michael (Georgetta) and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place on January 7, 2026 @ 1:00 pm at the IOOF Hall, 22551 Silverlode Lane, Palo Cedro, Join us to celebrate and remember Buck. A meal will follow.
