👣 If you only have one health goal, make it this 👣

Sitting for long periods of time is dangerous for your health, yet we all do it 😫 But here’s a fun tip based on a solid research study:

⏰ Strolling around for 5 minutes every half hour can offset some of the most harmful effects of prolonged sitting.

The study was done at Columbia University and looked at 5 possible scenarios:

🔸 1 minute of walking every 30 minutes
🔸 1 minute every 60 minutes
🔸 5 minutes every 30
🔸 5 minutes every 60
🔸 No walking at all

The optimal results came out of walking for 5 minutes after every 30 minutes of sitting. That amount:

⬇️ Reduced blood pressure by 4-5 mm Hg compared to sitting all day

⬇️ Reduced blood sugar spikes after meals by 58% compared to sitting all day

Don’t you LOVE when tiny efforts can add up to such a big impact?

Do you get migraines? Then this post is for you.

📄 Research just published in the journal Headache found that people who get more zinc in their diet have almost one-third lower risk of migraines than those who get little zinc.

The study involved more than 11,000 US adults, 20% of whom experienced migraines or severe headaches.

➡️ Surveys showed that those consuming the most zinc (from foods or supplements) had the fewest migraines.

This is not the first nutrient to be studied in the context of migraines. Other nutrients may also play a role, like:

🔹 Magnesium
🔹 Calcium
🔹 Vitamin D
🔹 Vitamin B1
🔹 Vitamin B12
🔹 Folic acid
🔹 Coenzyme Q10

I have noticed a lot of conversation lately about the local Weight Watchers meetings closing their doors here in Redding. With those meetings gone, I know many women are missing that weekly connection and the chance to talk health with others who understand the challenges of this stage of life.

I am curious to hear your thoughts so I can see how I might be able to help. If you have a second, I would love to know:

1. What did you actually like about the WW meetings? Was it the accountability, the friendships, or the routine?
2. What did you not like? Was there something specific that felt like it was missing for your health?
3. If I were to start a casual local in-person wellness chat or group, what would you want to see included? Would you like expert tips on hormones, gut health, or simply a dedicated space to share and support one another?
