Even with protection, there’s a chance of pregnancy. If you’ve turned to Plan B to prevent an unplanned pregnancy, understanding its effectiveness and what happens if it fails is essential.

How Does Plan B Work?
Plan B is a form of emergency contraception that lowers the risk of pregnancy by preventing or delaying ovulation. It’s often used when birth control fails or in cases of sexual assault.

However, Plan B doesn’t always prevent ovulation, but may also work by disrupting the hormonal environment and interfering with the embryo’s attachment to the uterus, resulting in its death.

It’s important to know that Plan B and all other forms of emergency contraception should only be used as backups, not as primary methods of birth control.

Is Plan B the Same as the Abortion Pill?
While they seem similar, Plan B and the abortion pill are not the same things.

The difference is that Plan B aims to keep you from getting pregnant in the first place and may disrupt a newly formed embryo from continuing to grow, but the abortion pill is designed to end a pregnancy every single time it is used.

If you’ve taken Plan B and missed your period, it could mean that you’re pregnant. Take a pregnancy test to confirm. Bobette has been volunteering in our boutique for 23 years! We visit her lovely church in Anderson every year for our Baby Bottle Drive and they have become one of our favorites!

Whether pregnancy support, options counseling, education, or emotional care, our team remains committed to meeting women and men where they are and offering hope-centered, life-affirming care in every interaction.

Over the past year, we have seen the power of a welcoming, friendly, and holistic approach. We have expanded our services, increased our medical staff and volunteers, and deepened our relationships within the communities we serve. Behind every statistic are real stories- women and men who felt seen, a family who found support, and a life that was valued.

Our Boutique.❤️
At NorthState Care Clinic we have a lovely space for moms and dads to shop for clothing and baby items that they need.

Parents sign up for classes and those classes earn them points to spend in the Boutique. It works beautifully.

The Boutique is filled with donations given by the community and we GREATLY VALUE each donation that comes in.

Our volunteers, who run and maintain the Boutique, go through every single item donated, if it's not sizes we currently need, we sell them to a local consignment shop and use that money to buy sizes we do need! Because of space limitations this system works wonderfully.

Thank you to our supportive and generous community for helping support families in need!!
