Obituary For Daniel Ralph Cox
Daniel Ralph Cox was born on May 13, 1955, in Redding, California, and he passed away on April 4, 2026.
Danny was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love for his family ran deep. He spent his entire life in the Round Mountain and Montgomery Creek. Those places shaped him into the hardworking, traditional man we all knew and loved.
He graduated from Central Valley High School, and during those early years, he often joined his father, Ralph, logging -an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for the outdoors-. After graduating, Danny became a timber faller in the early 2000s, eventually purchasing his own logging truck and continuing his career behind the wheel. The woods were more than a workplace to Danny—they were his home, his peace, and his pride.
Danny found great joy in hunting with his hounds; a passion that defined much of his younger years. He loved sharing with his family not only the thrill of the hunt but the beauty of the outdoors. Some of his most cherished moments were spent watching the excitement on his children’s faces as he was trying to tree a bear, a mountain lion, or any critter that crossed his path. And while he embraced every part of the hunt, he would be the first to tell you—nothing was worse than a dead skunk.
A man of faith, Danny was a Christian who carried his beliefs quietly but strongly throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Georgia, and his sister, Nancy.
He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts: his sister Nicki; his children Jessica, Justin and his wife Despina, and Janine; his grandchildren Mikayla and Michael; and his great-grandchildren Quinlee, Kaleio, Kianu, Michael, and Oceanna.
Danny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the lessons he passed down, and the love he gave so freely.
A graveside service will be held on May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holcomb Cemetery in Montgomery Creek, California. A celebration of life will follow at the Round Mountain Community Center. This will be a potluck gathering. Please, bring a dish and, most importantly, bring your memories.
The family welcomes everyone to come together, share stories, and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
