Across the country, people are coming together to raise awareness and support those living with limb loss and limb difference. Here in Redding, we lit the Sundial Bridge orange as part of that effort.

Stories help students explore new perspectives, build empathy, and understand how sport can create confidence and community.

These titles can be used for read-alouds, book clubs, or independent classroom activities.

Our 4th Annual Amputee Awareness Walk is one of those days — a chance to connect, share stories, encourage one another, and simply spend time with people who understand the journey. It’s not about distance or pace. It’s about showing up and walking together.

We’re proud of our resident, Caleb, who recently traveled to the Philippines to help provide prosthetic care for more than 40 people with limb loss.

Each patient’s story was unique, but what they shared was the joy of taking steps toward independence again. Being part of that moment—the first steps, the return of a smile, the spark of possibility—is what makes this work so meaningful.

This trip wasn’t just about prosthetic legs. It was about giving hope, mobility, and dignity back to people’s lives.
