At Liberty House Recovery, healing is not just talked about, it is experienced.
In this exercise, clients are blindfolded and asked to keep one hand on the rope while walking forward through obstacles they cannot see. They are given one simple instruction: keep moving, stay connected, and if you need help, raise your hand and say the words: I need help.
What makes this so powerful is how often someone will keep struggling long after they are overwhelmed. We have watched clients spend nearly an hour trying to push through on their own before finally asking for help.
That is addiction.
So many lives are damaged not because help was unavailable, but because asking for it felt harder than suffering in silence.
This group opens the door to something deeper. It helps our clients face the pride, fear, shame, and resistance that keep them stuck. It creates an honest conversation about where they needed help in the past, where they still need help today, and what is standing in the way of surrender.
Recovery begins when a person no longer has to do it alone.
Three of the most life-changing words a person can say are: I need help.
