A new year is the perfect time to focus on habits that support how your body feels every day. Making chiropractic care part of your regular routine can help you move more comfortably, recover better from running, and manage the physical demands of daily life.

Wellness isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about consistency. Small, proactive steps taken throughout the year can make a meaningful difference in how you feel and perform. Start the year by taking care of your body.

Cold weather changes how your body responds to training. Muscles perform best when intensity builds gradually, which is why a longer warm-up matters during winter workouts. Taking extra time before loading heavier weights helps your lifts feel smoother, more controlled, and more efficient.

Especially in colder months, starting slow isn’t a setback — it’s smart training. Give your body the time it needs to be ready, and your workouts will reflect it. 💪❄️

This year, build movement into your day instead of waiting for the “perfect” workout window. Ten minutes of strength work, a brisk walk with the stroller, or gentle mobility between tasks all add up.

Consistent, manageable movement supports your body far better than pushing hard once in a while. Real progress comes from routines that work with real life — not against it. ❄️

Dads — if you only have 45 minutes to train, don’t skip the first five. Those opening minutes set the tone for your entire workout. A proper warm-up helps your body handle heavier lifts with more control and makes it far more likely you walk out feeling good — not beat up.

Between work, family, and everything else, smart training matters. Start slow, build intentionally, and make your time count. 💪

As we head into the new year, many people are returning to routines that involve long hours on a laptop. The challenge is that laptops often encourage longer periods of looking down and fewer position changes throughout the day. Over time, that can increase strain through the upper body and lead to lingering tension.

A simple goal for the new year: build in more movement. Adjust your screen when possible, change positions often, and take short breaks to reset during the workday. Small habit changes now can make a big difference in how your body feels all year long. ✔️

Consistency beats perfection, especially this time of year. As the year winds down, it’s easy to feel pressure to do more or start fresh overnight. But real progress comes from small, repeatable habits that support your body day after day.

Whether it’s a winter walk, a hike, or a few minutes of intentional movement, those moments add up. Carry this mindset into the new year and focus on what you can sustain — not what looks perfect. ❄️🌲

The holidays don’t have to throw off your routine. 💪

➡️When schedules get busy, shrinking the goal makes it easier to stay consistent. A short workout or quick walk still counts.
➡️Try moving earlier in the day before the celebrations begin — it helps your body feel better through long meals and late nights.
➡️And don’t forget recovery. Extra rest, staying hydrated, and light movement the day after go a long way in keeping stiffness down.

Health during the holidays isn’t about perfection — it’s about small choices that add up. ✔️

When temperatures drop, you don’t need a completely new lifting routine — you just need a smarter warm-up. Cold weather slows down how quickly your body gets ready for heavier work, so those first few minutes matter more than usual.

Start with light movement, controlled reps, and a gradual build in weight. This gives your muscles time to switch on and helps you lift with better control and comfort.

Winter training isn’t about pushing harder — it’s about preparing better. ❄️💪

If you’re looking for simple ways to stay active this season, Redmond has a couple of great holiday events that make movement feel effortless. Whether you're shaking off stiffness from the cold or just want a reason to get outside, these are worth checking out:

🎄 Redmond Lights — From Dec 6 to Jan 5, Downtown Park and Esterra Park transform into a glowing trail of art installations, lights, and festive displays. It’s an easy way to get in a gentle walk while soaking in the holiday atmosphere.

🛍️ Winter Wonderland at Redmond Town Center — With decorations, seasonal activities, and extended shopping hours, it’s the perfect spot for a light stroll, some browsing, and a warm drink.

Staying active in the winter doesn’t always require a workout — sometimes a slow walk through holiday lights is the movement your body needs. ❄️✨

Cold-weather hikes challenge your body in ways you may not feel until later, so a good recovery routine makes a big difference. After you get home, take a few minutes to gently move through your hips, legs, and lower back — winter trails often create extra tension, and a little mobility helps everything settle more comfortably. Make sure you rehydrate and refuel, too. The cold can mask how much energy you used, so giving your body water, electrolytes, and a solid meal supports muscle repair and overall comfort. Later in the day, keep yourself from getting stiff by adding a short walk, light cycling, or simple stretches. Think of it as easing your body back into its normal rhythm after steep terrain and uneven footing.

Winter hiking is incredible — just remember that how you recover is part of the adventure. ❄️🥾🌲

Getting outside in the winter is one of the simplest ways to keep your body feeling good, and Redmond has plenty of spots that make it easy. Whether you need a light walk, a longer trail, or a quiet reset in nature, these three parks are great choices for fresh air and steady movement:

🌲Marymoor Park — Wide, accessible paths perfect for easy walks or gentle warm-ups before a workout.
🌲Sammamish River Trail — A longer, smooth route for walking, running, or cycling at your own pace.
🌲Redmond Watershed Preserve — Forested trails with soft footing, ideal for a slower, more mindful outing.

Winter movement doesn’t need to be intense — just consistent. Take your time, stay warm, and let your body ease into the cooler temps. Small steps outside go a long way in keeping you active and feeling strong. ❄️🚶♂️
