Love is in the air at DPK this week 💕

We cut out hearts to make Valentines, decorated our love wall with hearts and confetti, painted beautiful watercolor hearts, and drew all the things we love. These sweet activities build creativity, fine motor skills, connection, and so much joy, proof that learning feels best when it’s wrapped in play and love.

Writing skills start with play. ✏️

Tracing squiggly, zigzag, and straight lines helps toddlers build essential pre-writing skills like visual-motor integration, hand control, coordination, and early problem-solving. These playful line paths strengthen the foundation for handwriting and future academic success while keeping learning fun and engaging.

Strong writers begin with playful practice. Are you going to try this one?

Growth happens when kids feel safe enough to take a risk, and play creates that space.

When children climb, try again, and push past “I can’t,” their brains are building planning skills, emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence. At DPK, we support kids through the challenge instead of rushing them past it, because learning how to try again is a skill for life.

That’s how we motivate change, through play. Learn more at www.developmentalpathways.com.

Swinging is powerful on its own, but when you add a goal, the brain lights up in even bigger ways! 🎯💫

Goal-directed swinging:

💛 Activates the vestibular system for balance and spatial awareness

💛 Strengthens the cerebellum for posture and control

💛 Engages the occipital and parietal lobes for eye-foot coordination and motor planning

💛 Stimulates the frontal lobe for sequencing, timing, and decision-making.

It’s play with purpose—and every swing is building a stronger, more connected brain.
