✨ What a night to remember! ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 18th Annual Power of Possibilities, presented by Linda Leao and Carole Middleton. Together, our incredible community helped raise more than $720,000 to support AbilityPath’s lifespan of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

A highlight of the evening was honoring Neal Poppin Award recipient Keri Johnson, whose story reflects the heart of AbilityPath. Learn more about Keri in the video.

We were also inspired by Bestselling Author Robert Dugoni, who shared his personal connection to AbilityPath, and we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Bryan Neider, AbilityPath and Via Services CEO leading with heart and impact.

From the lively reception to the inspiring program and spirited auction, the evening reflected what makes the AbilityPath community so special.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy recently published “Leaders Face Disruption With Resilience and Resolve, Poll Finds,” highlighting how nonprofit leaders nationwide are navigating rising demand, funding uncertainty, and workforce challenges. AbilityPath’s CEO, Bryan Neider, was included among the leaders sharing their perspectives.

In his contribution, Bryan speaks candidly about the financial pressures facing nonprofits when government reimbursement rates fail to keep pace with inflation and increasing costs. While cost management is essential, he emphasizes that sustainability also requires innovation — strengthening programs, developing new approaches, and leveraging technology such as artificial intelligence to streamline administrative tasks. By reducing paperwork and back-office burden, teams can focus more fully on the people and communities they serve.

At a time when many organizations are facing uncertainty, the article reinforces the importance of resilience, adaptability, and mission-driven leadership.

In August, we shared news about our partnership with Stanford University’s HEARs Program (Health Equity Advocacy and Research), focused on improving care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Because most medical residents receive little to no specialized training in this area, AbilityPath collaborates with Stanford’s Internal Medicine Residency Program to bring real-world experience into physician education through case studies and participation from our staff and community members.

Residents that have completed the training report significantly greater confidence in recognizing care disparities, using respectful language, understanding guardianship and consent issues, and providing high-quality clinical care. Many also shared they feel more comfortable caring for patients with IDD.

On February 10, AbilityPath and Stanford University, expanded the program to approximately 30 additional residents at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, continuing to grow this important community–academic partnership and its impact on future physicians.

💙 Collaboration is the key to solving the early childhood education crisis.

As part of addressing this challenge locally, AbilityPath is actively participating in San Mateo County’s Children’s Collective working group, and I attended the most recent session this past Monday.

The "Blueprint" developed by this coalition is supported by more than 100 community leaders and partners. By aligning initiatives such as The Big Lift and Build Up, we are working as a community to ensure that every child in our county has access to quality early learning and that every family feels supported.

At AbilityPath, we know that the "crisis" in early education requires more than just individual effort; it requires a cross-sector collaboration. We are proud to be at the table, ensuring that inclusion and quality remain at the forefront of this countywide transformation.

🙏🏻 Together, we’re working to build the infrastructure of early childhood education for the next generation.
