Did you know the 6-month dental cleaning guideline originated from early 1900s advertising rather than evidence-based science? It was popularized as a way to promote regular check-ups. Dental cleaning frequency should be based on your build up, disease risk and a thorough assessment by your dental hygienist or a periodic exam by a dentist. Insurance should not be able to dictate this. I personally get my teeth professionally cleaned every 4 months. Prevention is worth a pound of cure 🪥🦷
