Cait Atchison, an Athletic Trainer here at RAMC was recently recognized for Going Beyond the Expected. She was nominated by the Rehab staff.

A Rehab staff member wrote - “Cait is very dedicated to the athletes that she treats in clinic, at the high school, and on the field. She scheduled a vacation with her family between seasons as best she could. However, as the Football team entered playoffs she realized that they had a real shot at making it to state. Her flight was scheduled for the day of the State final. Cait went above and beyond and changed her flights to leave later, allowing her to attend the football game and take care of the players as she has done all season. We believe Cait should be recognized for all the long hours and her overall dedication to the student athletes of Reedsburg.”

Nathan Low | Behavioral Health, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

"As a psychiatrist it is my goal, and privilege, to provide compassionate and effective care by utilizing current evidence-based diagnostic and treatment modalities, and by building therapeutic rapport with patients and their families. In addition to being trained to treat all ages, I bring specialized training and experience in utilizing medication and therapy with children and adolescents, to include a variety of behavioral health concerns and complex care.

I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve in this amazing community. I appreciate that seeking Behavioral health treatment for oneself and/or a child can be daunting, but I hope to quickly and consistently ease those concerns. With every interaction I strive to help patients and their families feel welcomed, respected, heard, and informed. Diagnoses are made carefully, and treatment can include talk/behavioral therapy and/or medications. I work to ensure that patients and/or families feel like a central part of the treatment team and decision-making process.

I was born and raised in southern California. After serving a mission to the Dominican Republic as a young adult I resolved to dedicate my career toward alleviating the suffering and pain of others as a physician. Through my service in the US Army, I’ve had wonderful opportunities to gain experience as a physician and psychiatrist in a variety of locations (Colorado, Utah, Hawaii, Texas, Alaska, and the Republic of Korea) providing care to service members and their family members in addition to supervising a child/adolescent behavioral health clinic in Texas and advising its implementation in Korea."

Celebrating a milestone in local healthcare! Yesterday, Reedsburg Area Medical Center officially opened the RAMC La Valle Clinic with a ribbon cutting ceremony, marking an important expansion of primary and preventive care for the La Valle community and surrounding areas.

Patients can now access care from Nurse Practitioner Amanda McAfee and Dr. Garret Tesman, with scheduled primary care visits and basic on-site lab services, all conveniently located at S1429 State Hwy 33/58.

Community members, local leaders, and RAMC staff gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate this milestone and tour the new clinic space.

Beth Adsit | Certified Nurse Midwife, Obstetrics

“After growing up in a small town like Reedsburg, I feel honored to serve a small community where I can make a difference with patient-centered care. I found my passion for supporting growing families while in nursing school. Through my career as a labor and delivery nurse, this passion grew and as a midwife, I am reminded daily of how lucky I am to care for my patients and their families. As a nurse midwife, I provide women’s health through all stages of life, from puberty through menopause, and I have special interests in pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum and lactation care. I am honored to serve the Reedsburg and surrounding areas while building relationships with my patients. As a member of your healthcare team, I strive to ensure you feel supported and cared for with each encounter.

When I'm not at work I love to go adventuring with my little family. We love to take trips when able - our most memorable have been to Alaska and South Dakota/Wyoming. I love to be outside with my husband and girls and exploring new places”

As we get ready to open the RAMC La Valle Clinic on December 10, we’re helping the community get to know the providers who will be caring for patients at this new location.

Here’s a quick Q&A with Dr. Tesman:

💬 What do you enjoy most about caring for patients?
I enjoy getting to know people and partnering with them over time. In a rural community, you truly get to care for the whole person, and often the whole family. I love helping patients make meaningful changes that improve their long-term health, quality of life, and being able to celebrate their successes with them.

💬 What can patients expect during their first visit with you?
Patients can expect a relaxed, open conversation. I like to start by listening and learning about you outside what I can see in the chart then learning about your health history, your goals, and what’s most important to you. From there, we work as a team to create a plan that feels realistic and tailored to your life. My goal is that you leave the visit feeling heard, understood, and supported.

💬 What’s something patients might be surprised to learn about you?
I've lived on both coasts - California and Oregon as well as Pennsylvania.

💬 What’s one thing you’re excited about as you serve patients at the RAMC La Valle Clinic?
II’m excited to be part of a clinic that feels like the heart of the community in La Valle. I’m looking forward to helping people take charge of their health and making high-quality care easily accessible close to home.

💬 What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I spend most of my time outside work with my lovely wife and young son. We have been exploring the beauty that Dutch Hollow and surrounding area provides.
