Let’s embark on a journey to unlock the full potential of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) benefits for children, navigating the complexities with hope, support, and empowerment. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental journey that presents unique strengths in social communication, interaction, and specific interests, marked by diverse, individualized support requirements that foster growth. Symptoms typically emerge in early childhood, shaping how individuals perceive their surroundings, learn, and connect with others, highlighting the importance of early intervention and tailored support. Although the exact causes are not fully understood, ASD is recognized as a spectrum with diverse needs that require personalized support to unlock individual potential. **Behavioral Characteristics of Autism** include Repetitive Behaviors: Engaging in intense, repetitive actions such as hand flapping, rocking, or arranging objects with precision and purpose, showcasing creativity and attention to detail. Routine Reliance: A strong preference for predictability, providing opportunities for building resilience and adaptability. Intense Interests: Highly focused passions for specific subjects that inspire creativity, innovation, and excellence. Sensory Processing Issues: Unique sensory experiences, including sensitivity or adaptability to various stimuli, sounds, textures, smells, or light, requiring understanding and accommodations. **Social Communication Differences** include Eye Contact & Expression: Limited or reduced eye contact and varied facial expressions that reflect individuality, not inability. Literal Interpretation: Opportunities for learning and growth in understanding nuances of language, promoting clarity and precision. Conversation Challenges: Developing skills in reciprocal conversation, social cues, and perspective-taking, essential for building meaningful relationships. Nonverbal Cues: Building awareness and understanding of body language and gestures, enhancing communication and empathy. **Types of Autism** were previously classified as distinct conditions, such as Asperger syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, but are now categorized under the single umbrella of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to reflect the wide variability in strengths, abilities, and needs among individuals, promoting inclusivity and understanding. **Diagnosis of Autism** involves Developmental Monitoring: Regular check-ups to track developmental milestones and celebrate progress, identifying areas for support and growth. Evaluation: A comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment conducted by specialists, including pediatricians, psychologists, and psychiatrists, to understand individual needs and develop tailored support plans. Indicators: Diagnosis is based on unique strengths and challenges in social communication/interaction and specific interests, recognizing individual differences and needs. **Treatment and Support Options** are tailored to the individual's needs, aiming to improve daily functioning, quality of life, and potential, as every individual's journey is unique and deserving of support. Behavioral & Educational Therapy includes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and structured teaching methods that promote learning, skill-building, and independence. Speech-Language Therapy aims to enhance communication skills and confidence, fostering meaningful relationships and connections. Occupational Therapy assists with sensory integration, daily living skills, and independence, promoting self-empowerment and self-advocacy. Support Services provide assistance to families, tailored education plans, and community connections that foster belonging, understanding, and empowerment.

Today, we honor Wreaths Across America. Prior to discussing my role in Wreaths Across America, I would like to offer some thoughts. This year will be a unique experience for me, as I will be serving both in this capacity and as a veteran with loved ones buried in the national cemetery. This February, I buried my brother, a Navy veteran, in Grafton. His passing still weighs heavily on me, and if I am overcome with emotion, please know that it stems from my grief. Furthermore, my adoptive parents are also interred there. As a result, Wreaths Across America will take on a profound new meaning for me this year.

November is Military Family Appreciation Month. International & American Women Pageants has truly empowered me to share the challenges that come with not only being a veteran. My daughters have been nurtured around the military and have been blessed with some incredible opportunities. We are a very proud and grateful military family!

I had the profound privilege of making my first inaugural appearance as your tri-state elite queen, and it was a transcendentally uplifting experience that left an indelible mark on my heart. I was deeply humbled to assist the Clay Batelle High School CEE BEE Marching band as they prepared for their annual sub sale, a truly exemplary fundraiser that not only supports the band but also showcases the exceptional talents of these remarkable students. I feel eternally grateful to serve as an ambassador for my title and contribute to a cause that makes a tangible difference, inspiring hope and positivity in the community.
