It’s $5 Friday!! It’s hard to imagine that many of the horses in our herd were dumped in killpens and would experience the worst outcome had rescues not have stepped in. But they did and now these horses are living their best lives surrounded by lots of love and attention at Lone Oak. Lone Oak is 100% volunteer run (including leadership) which means your donations go directly to the care of the animals and supplies for programs. Choose to support these beloved horses that got a second chance by sponsoring a horse for as little as $5 a month! You can sponsor a horse at the link in our Instagram bio OR at https://www.loneoaktherapeutic.org/projects-7

Lydia, a long time volunteer, highlighted “family” and expressed life changes that occurred while being a steady and consistent Volunteer with Lone Oak. As we grow in numbers, our faithful team members continue to model for our community what it is like to be a part of a family. Healthy families are always growing and they contribute to growth at Lone Oak. We continue to grow and reach more of our community and yet we could do none of this without our volunteers who show up. All. The. Time.

Jess, a social worker intern, and faithful volunteer used the word “harmony.” Harmony can be - a relationship in which various components exist together without destroying one another. How beautiful it is to know, we exist in harmony with horses who have experienced difficult circumstances or needed a new purpose, and to welcome our beloved Volunteers into a community that seeks to push one another to grow, to show up and to support one another. Time is valuable. Community is valuable when it’s healthy and able to push through adverse experiences. We are growing, learning and healing together.

We had our regular farrier visit today at the farm! Almost all horses had their hooves trimmed today. Hoof trimmings are a normal part of horse care to keep the horses happy and healthy. Consider sponsoring a horse as a Field Friend to cover the regular cost of $60 per horse trim! You can sponsor a horse here: https://www.loneoaktherapeutic.org/projects-7 or at the link in our Instagram Bio!

Meet Katie, a well loved Volunteer and loyal part of our community. Katie, vulnerably shared, she showed up to a place in a time of heartache and loneliness and do you know what she found? She found the quiet stillness of a beautiful animal and found a peace within each community member, that shed light on a dark part of herself. What a joy it is - to hear the successes of why we do what we do. We cannot thank our Volunteers enough. For showing up. For being present.

We are not us without you.

Today we had the wonderful opportunity to visit the residents of and bring some equine joy to their community! Paxton, our therapeutic mini horse, was able to visit so many residents and even took a few elevator rides. We were able to connect with a number of people who grew up with horses and were so thrilled to have one in their space. Thanks to for having us!
