It was a pleasure meeting with Jennifer, program director at STEP2, and Dustin, their assessments & admissions manager, to learn more about how our organizations can partner to better support the people we serve.

Mental health and recovery look different for everyone- they’re complex, layered, and deeply personal. The more we collaborate and communicate across organizations, the better we can support individuals navigating substance use and mental health challenges.

The Step2 campus is truly inspiring, offering women a second chance through a holistic, compassionate approach to recovery.

Vitality Unlimited looks forward to a strong and lasting partnership with Step2 as we work together to create brighter, healthier futures. 💙

What are your hopes for 2026? ✨

Nina’s goal for 2026? To dive deeper into her “healthiest coping skill” -sourdough. 🍞

Yes, you read that right. Nina is a talented baker, especially when it comes to sourdough. As she puts it:

“It gets my mind off of things- it’s tactile, calming, and satisfying to watch something from start to finish.”

Along with baking, Nina is also RISING toward a big professional milestone (see what we did there 😉). She’s more than halfway to completing her licensure, with 900 of the 1,500 hours needed to become a fully licensed CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor).

👉 Check out the comments to see a pic of her sourdough starter, lovingly fed 3–4 times a week and named “Dough Rogan” and one of her finished creations: a pumpkin-cinnamon inclusive sourdough loaf. Yum!

If you’re seeking mental health or substance use disorder treatment and would like to work with Nina or one of our amazing therapists, give us a call at one of our four certified community behavioral health clinics (CCBHCs). 💙

There are multiple pathways to recovery: clinical care, medication management, community support, group and individual therapy, self-management. What matters most is finding what works for you. Here at Vitality Unlimited, we house all of these options under one roof. Plus, we accept all forms of insurance, including Medicaid.

To kick off the New Year, we’re asking Vitality Unlimited’s therapists: What are your hopes for 2026? ✨

Meet Michelle, who's been a therapist at Vitality Unlimited for over a year. Her wish for 2026?

“Many of my clients have been diagnosed with an SMI (serious mental illness), I want people struggling to know that help is out there, and you are deserving of the help."

Michelle provides therapy for veterans at our Veterans Transitional Housing in Sun Valley, where she leads weekly group sessions. She is also the lead of our assertive community treatment (ACT) team, supporting individuals living with severe mental health conditions.

When asked what else she’d like to share, Michelle added:

“I have a cat named Poppy.” 🐾

👉 Check the comments for a photo of Michell's adorabele furbaby, Poppy.

If you or someone you love needs mental health support, we’re here to help. 💙

Meet Joey Wiersma, Vitality Unlimited’s Veterans Housing Care Coordinator.🏠

We are incredibly proud of Joey and the care, consistency, and compassion he brings to our housing program for unhoused veterans.

His dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed — one of our community partners, Dan, shared that he believes Joey is passionate about recovery and caring for the veterans.

"I am not the only one that feels this way," Dan said. "I have heard my colleagues also say what a great job Joey is doing with one saying, 'they have never seen the house run so well and it is cleaner than they have ever seen it.'"

Joey supports veterans across every step of their journey while they stay in our two transitional houses, which provide up to 20 beds. Joey and the rest of staff help connect veterans to employment, medical care, transportation, financial accountability, and life-skills support. They teach residents the daily routines and habits that help keep their shared living spaces safe, clean, and welcoming where healing and stability can begin.

When asked what he loves about his work, Joey said, “I love working here. I love what I do. Everybody deserves an opportunity and a chance. These guys know my door’s always open.”

We are so grateful for Joey’s heart, leadership, and the positive impact he has on the veterans we serve.

Thank you, Joey, for everything you do. 💙
