Parents condemn 'unsafe' Activity Zone Malmesbury play equipment
Stories like this are difficult to read—but they highlight a risk many families don’t realize exists.
Recently, parents in the U.K. reported that inflatable play equipment collapsed on children during a birthday party, leaving adults scrambling to lift the rapidly deflating structure so kids could get out. Several children were trapped underneath before parents were able to free them.
When inflatables deflate unexpectedly, they can become extremely heavy, creating a serious suffocation risk for children inside. Situations like this also raise important questions about proper supervision, trained operators, and safety procedures.
At the Lizzy Hammond Foundation, this is exactly why we continue to advocate for stronger safety standards and education around inflatable play equipment. Laws like Lizzy’s Law in Nevada were created to help ensure operators follow clear safety guidelines—including proper setup, monitoring, and responsible supervision.
Bounce houses can be fun—but they must be operated safely and responsibly.
Our hearts go out to the families involved, and we hope stories like this encourage more awareness, better training, and stronger safety standards everywhere.
💙 In honor of Lizzy, and every child who deserves a safe place to play.
