City of Reno Adaptive, in partnership with AARP Nevada, invites you to Teglia’s Paradise Park on Wednesday, November 12 at 10 a.m. for a fun and inclusive community walk. Dr. Ellia Ciammaichella, an Osteopath and Physiatrist, will lead participants through one or two laps around the park while sharing wellness tips along the way.

Attendees can check in with an AARP volunteer at the Teglia’s Paradise Park Activity Center parking lot on the day of, and are encouraged to bring their own water and wear comfortable shoes. The walking route is accessible for individuals using wheelchairs, strollers, and adaptive bikes. Helmets are required for those riding bicycles.

Grace Larkins is the associate project coordinator for the Family Navigation Network. She spent much of her career in the arts, non-profit management, and professional graphic design, but her life took a new direction after her daughter Lucy was born with a rare genetic disorder. Lucy's medical complexities, including cerebral palsy and epilepsy, inspired Grace to step into the world of advocacy and support.

Grace is dedicated to finding new ways to support families like hers in navigating the challenges of caring for children with special healthcare needs. She is passionate about creating more inclusive spaces and expanding access to vital resources. Whether through policy changes, community initiatives, or everyday interactions, Grace is committed to creating meaningful change so all families feel understood and supported.

Halloween is a magical time when imagination takes the spotlight, and a child's mobility device can become an amazing part of their costume! Instead of trying to hide a wheelchair, crutches, or a walker, you can incorporate them into a truly creative and unique costume design. This not only makes the costume more comfortable and practical, but it also celebrates the person's identity and sense of style.
