I opened The Journey Senior Care in September 2023 as a one-person operation, driven by a passion to make a real difference in the senior care community. After witnessing the inconsistency and impersonal nature of large caregiving companies—where caregivers were frequently rotated and families rarely saw the same face twice—I knew there had to be a better way.

I founded this company on one core belief: trust is everything. Seniors deserve consistent, high-quality care from someone they can build a relationship with. I made a promise to myself—and to every family I serve—that The Journey would always prioritize continuity and compassion.

Over the past year and a half, I’ve worked tirelessly to build strong relationships with providers, understand the full scope of community resources available to seniors, and establish a reputation for excellence among fellow care professionals.

Now, we’re proud to announce a major milestone. Starting April 14th, our brochures will be available in every hospital, hospice, oncology center, and rehabilitation facility across Northern Nevada. We’re expanding our services beyond Reno and Sparks to reach rural communities as well.

The Journey Senior Care offers everything from basic premium care to compassionate end-of-life support. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m truly excited for what lies ahead—for our team, for the families we serve, and for the seniors whose lives we hope to enrich.

Here’s to the future—it’s going to be a great ride.

Recognizing the Signs of Stroke Could Save a Life

A stroke is a medical emergency that requires immediate attention. Recognizing the signs of a stroke is crucial for prompt intervention, which can significantly improve outcomes. Here are key indicators to be aware of:

* Sudden Numbness or Weakness: One of the most common signs of a stroke is sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body. If you notice a droop in the face or if someone experiences difficulty lifting an arm, it could be a red flag.

* Trouble Speaking or Understanding: Slurred speech or difficulty in understanding others can be indicative of a stroke. Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. If they struggle or speak incomprehensibly, it's time to seek help.

* Vision Problems: Sudden vision impairment, such as blurred or blackened vision in one or both eyes, can be a warning sign. Encourage the person to cover one eye and then the other. If their vision remains impaired, it may be a stroke symptom.

* Severe Headache: A sudden and severe headache, especially if it is accompanied by other stroke symptoms, should not be ignored. It might indicate a ruptured blood vessel in the brain.

* Dizziness and Loss of Balance: Feeling unsteady, dizzy, or experiencing a sudden loss of balance can be indicative of a stroke. Difficulty walking or coordinating movements may also be observed.

Remember the acronym FAST to help recognize and respond to the signs of a stroke:
* F: Face Drooping
* A: Arm Weakness
* S: Speech Difficulty
* T: Time to Call Emergency Services
If you or someone else exhibits these signs, don't hesitate to call emergency services immediately. Time is critical, as early intervention can minimize long-term damage and increase the chances of recovery. Being aware of these stroke signs is essential in the effort to save lives and reduce the impact of this serious medical condition.
