Meet Tobie!! 🐶💙This sweet 6-year-old Basset Hound found himself in a bit of a pickle a couple weeks ago after snacking on something he definitely shouldn’t have. 😬 The good news? The foreign object was still in his stomach, which meant Dr. Nichols was able to use an endoscope to safely retrieve the fabric so, no surgery needed! 🙌✨ Endoscopy is a great option when indicated and helps us keep procedures less invasive for our patients.
Tobie is feeling much better now (and promises to keep the fabric off the menu 🥹🫶🏼). We’re so proud of this good boy!

Video of the fabric removal is in the comments!

Solensia is a monthly injection prescribed by your veterinarian once you’ve discussed treatment. You can make a 15 minute appointment with one of our amazing vet nurses to give the injection to your cat to help reduce joint pain from arthritis.
🧬 How it works: Instead of being like a pain pill, Solensia is a lab-made antibody medicine (a special protein) that blocks pain signals from the joints so your cat feels less pain and gives your cat a better quality of life in their older years!🫶🏼🤞🏼

Ezti received some very hard news this week…. Her doctors performed a DNA test on her spinal fluid and confirmed the presence of cancer cells in her spinal fluid. Inherently, we know this is bad news… we know it means the cancer has spread.

As you can imagine Ezti is devastated. She doesn’t have the mental strength at this time to delve into the details of what this means for her prognosis, but her treatment plan remains unchanged. She will continue with chemotherapy every 3 weeks and will continue to fight.

Please send up an extra prayer, good thought, whatever you’ve got to sweet Ezti and please continue to share her story.

Follow along for Arizona’s PRP treatment in her elbows! 💉🩸

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is beneficial in dogs because it uses the dog’s own blood to deliver concentrated growth factors to injured or painful areas. These growth factors help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and stimulate natural tissue healing which can improve mobility and function. PRP is minimally invasive, has a low risk side effects and may decrease the need for long-term pain medication‘s making it a safe and effective option for managing conditions like arthritis and soft tissue injuries.

Thank you for the continued support for Ezti as she continues to battle the unknown.

Ezti had another set of chest X-rays this week and the radiologist found fluid on the right side of her chest. This is making breathing a bit harder and her energy level quite a bit lower.

As if this was not enough, the pressure in her spinal fluid has not yet normalized and she is having symptoms of a sinus infection. Consequently, her oncologist sent her to the ER for another brain CT scan on 12/23 to ensure they were not missing anything in her skull that could explain the cranial hypertension and sinus symptoms. Her brain scan was clear thank goodness, but she is battling sinusitis and an infection in her throat requiring antibiotics.

After Christmas she will meet with her doctor team again to decide next steps in her treatment plan. She has to schedule an appointment with nuclear medicine to discuss next treatment options.

Keep spreading the word for her and her sweet family.

Thank you again to everyone who has donated or shown support to Ezti in any way. She appreciates each and every one of you!

This Friday Ezti met with an oncologist at Stanford and discussed the next steps for her treatment. Her doctors are concerned that the cancer that was found in her CSF (spinal fluid) is what is causing the pressure to be so high inside of her spinal column and consequently is what is affecting her vision. Unfortunately, her vision is not improving and her ocular pressures are worsening with time. As a result, Ezti is likely going to have to have a ventricular shunt placed to help lower the pressure in her spinal column and hopefully help her vision. This will likely take place at Stanford within the next month.

Travel to Stanford and undergoing major surgery is going to be very expensive, so any help you can provide would be so so appreciated!

If you can, please share Ezti’s story! Let’s spread the word and get her some support!
