Today starts the countdown of my last four weeks squeezin’ shoulders in this space 😢🥲

Because I’ve already had some of my final appointments with you sweet souls, I wanted to let you know:

💫 I love hugs but I know not everyone does, so I’ll leave it up to you to initiate them. This is your hug consent 😘

💫 I’d love to keep in touch! The best way to reach out will be at EricaLeeRiddle@gmail.com 💌

💫 If you’ve got a gift certificate or you’ve gifted someone one who hasn’t used it yet - please reach out as soon as possible to get booked 🙂

💫Still trying to gather some names of local therapists to refer you to… If you’re a massage therapist in Reno with availability for new clients, hit me up!

💫 I’m taking a break from work when I get to Michigan to get settled for a bit. So when you ask what’s next - I have no idea 😅 but I love an opportunity to recalibrate and pivot to whatever’s calling me next.

Looking forward to seeing y’all this month 💛

My friends, I have some bittersweet news to share with you. After four and a half wonderful years with Ritual, and six super special years in Reno, my husband and I have made the decision to move to Michigan to be near family.

Needless to say, this was a very emotional choice to make. We love this city! Our children were born here, our businesses began here, we cherish our community here. Part of that community, for me, is comprised of the clients I’ve been so lucky to work with over the last several years. You guys are so cool 🥹😢 I will miss you all and this beautiful place so much!!

My final day in the studio will be on the spring equinox, March 20th. The schedule is open for booking through then, and I hope to see you before I go 💞

“Typically, the sense of touch is so omnipresent, and its effects so seemingly ephemeral, that it is often taken for granted or overlooked. We now know that its effects linger in the brain long after the sensory experience ends, and often without our being directly aware of it. Surprisingly large amounts of information are preserved as well. As such, a single touch has a far greater impact on the mind than one might have ever imagined—which makes the act of doing so all the more powerful.”

-Steven C. Pan, PhD of Cognitive Psychology

I love reading about touch from the perspective of psychology and cognitive science. It’s always affirming and always shaping the way I view what I do. 💓

Just a gratitude post to say how much I appreciate you all 🌞 I have been working with some of you since my business opened 3 1/2 years ago… that’s a long time!

I’ve seen you from multiple IVF cycles to postpartum, I’ve seen you from clinical rotations to graduation and first healthcare jobs, I’ve seen you from dating to engagement to marriage. I’ve seen you through pet loss, job loss, cancer diagnosis and treatment, taking care of aging parents. I’ve said goodbye as you’ve moved away. And these are just the things that are shared with me- I know there is always so much more than I am even aware of.

I just want to say how much it means to me to provide a time of peace for you during all of these life events. I specialize in relaxation & stress relief because I know that stress is inflammatory, and reducing stress- even in short spells- is healing for your whole body. Stress relief truly benefits every system, beyond just the muscles I happen to be working with. Bodywork is a means by which we can encourage the nervous system to let go.

It’s an honor to hold the space you need during the hard, exciting, and mundane times. Thank you for your trust over the years 🙏🏼

PS- I’ve been seeing many of you for over a year and only recently seeing your full faces. It’s so nice to see your smiles! Here is mine 😁

Mask update:

For you: They’re optional and I am comfortable with whatever you choose.

For me: I’m still wearing mine and will be until the end of March. Beyond that, I’m happy to wear one by request (seriously, don’t feel weird asking, I want you to feel comfortable!)

For both of us: I hope that moving forward we all feel comfortable using masks as a preventive tool, pandemic or not. Of course if we are sick and we know it, we should reschedule. But if you’re in that space where sickness may be lingering, but isn’t fully evident… Like if you’ve spent time with someone who is sick, or just feeling a little sniffle or a tickle in your throat, or just a little off… please wear a mask! I will be doing the same 😊

What’s up with hot stones?

Visualize the posture of being cold: rigid, rolled forward, shrinking, protective.

And the posture of being warm? Airy, open, outstretched, expansive.

The heated options I offer are less about “loosening” any one particular muscle group and more about the unfurling of limbs that occurs when we feel safe and warm. It invites our form to fall where it may.

Always here for you: hot stones- heated table- steamy towels- warm flax packs- warming h**p balm- extra blankets. No extra charge. Just ask 😘

Slowww & gentle holding, traction, and compression to ease tension in the neck and scalp. There’s just nothing like it 🪄

There are just two✌🏼appointments left in January and a handful in February. The winter oil blend is woodsy- the table is warm- the vibes are right. See you soon 👁🌀👁

“A surprising cluster of novels and fairytales are set in the snow. Our knowledge of winter is a fragment of childhood, almost innate. All the careful preparations that animals make to endure the cold, foodless months; hibernation and migration, deciduous trees dropping leaves. This is no accident. The changes that take place in winter are a kind of alchemy, an enchantment performed by ordinary creatures to survive. Dormice laying on fat to hibernate, swallows navigating to South Africa, trees blazing out the final weeks of autumn. It is all very well to survive the abundant months of spring and summer, but in winter, we witness the full glory of nature’s flourishing in lean times.

“Plants and animals don’t fight the winter; they don’t pretend it’s not happening and attempt to carry on living the same lives they lived in the summer. They prepare. They adapt. They perform extraordinary acts of metamorphosis to get them through. Wintering is a time of withdrawing from the world, maximizing scant resources, carrying out acts of brutal efficiency and vanishing from sight; but that’s where the transformation occurs. Winter is not the death of the life cycle, but its crucible.

“It’s a time for reflection and recuperation, for slow replenishment, for putting your house in order. Doing these deeply unfashionable things — slowing down, letting your spare time expand, getting enough sleep, resting — is a radical act now, but it’s essential. ”
