Dave, an experienced Emergency Physician, and Janice, an experienced ER Nurse, moved their family from the Chicago area to Northern Michigan... where there are far fewer stop lights. Together they own and operate Leelanau Urgent Care on the beautiful Leelanau [lee-lan-aw] Pennisula. He cut his teeth on Skip Barber, BMW CCA, and TrackTime, and then moved on to racing in the Improved Touring and Formula Mazda SCCA classes. His current winter “rally” vehicle is a Dodge Ram truck: he’s still trying to master drifting with the snowplow blade on. He recently traded in his sexy Ducati Multistrada motorcycle for a Mazda RX-8, which has become the warm-weather rally car. Janice didn’t realize she had any interest in cars, motorcycles or racing until she met Dave. Although she has not driven a race car, nor been in a “legal” race, for that matter, she’s willing to give it her best shot. Janice has operated “vehicles” of various sizes and forms; from a dirt bike to a 47-foot sailing catamaran. Janice surprised herself, and many others, with her amazing ability to maneuver the catamaran for a week… without hitting anything. Between their limited driving experience (as compared to some of their other co-contestants), Janice’s skill at puzzles and navigation, their love of adventure, their sense of humor and their ability to work well together, Dave and Janice hope to make a presentable showing and enjoy the ride! We throughly enjoyed our first experience with the Autoweek America Adventure and we're looking forward to the 2012 challenge!
