Our Story
Our wholehearted intention is to cultivate healing communities that ease suffering and empower those who take charge of becoming the healer in their own lives. Healing One is a balanced float center that provides both passive and active approaches to healing. Healing modalities include, but are not limited to: floatation therapy, energy healing, massage therapy, sound therapy, yoga, flow arts, meditation, and oxygen therapy. We would really like to take a minute to explain this amazing experience called sensory deprivation or restricted environmental stimuli therapy (REST). We like to call it "floating" because that is exactly what it is in this case. When you are floating in a sensory deprivation tank, you are deprived of all senses (hence the name). You are buoyant from the high content of Epsom salt present in the tank, so you are already receiving benefits from the salt being on your body and in your hair. Many of us are magnesium deficient because from poor diet, so receiving magnesium topically is a great way to improve magnesium levels! Floating helps your body decompress from gravity and the effects it has on your body. Your spine, muscles and joints all begin to relax and decompress, allowing for alignment and better circulation. Your mind relaxes as well from being in the float tank. Lower-frequency Alpha and Theta waves are increased. These brainwaves have been linked with meditation, which has many well established benefits for both mind and body. Many studies have shown benefits from floating (usually referred to as REST in research articles) including: lowered anxiety, increased creativity and problem solving, reduced addiction, weight loss, and many more awesome benefits. Float tanks are really the most amazing healing/recovery equipment because they allow you to escape stimuli that constantly bombard us, and this gives your body the opportunity to heal itself. It will certainly thank you! We are the first commercial establishment to bring sensory deprivation to Reno, and we couldn't be more excited to help spread this life-changing experience. We strongly recommend combining modalities for the ultimate healing experience! Maybe try getting a massage after stepping out of the tank. You deserve to put energy into your own well being!
